I smoked mine with a mix of chunks of hickory and some cherry sawdust. The wife asked if I was going to sauce them and I said no. They were awesome!! Super tender and very flavorful. Kinda wish the kid was not around because I could have made a meal of nothing but ribs wink

the ribs that are in the plastic shrink wrap that you find for the most part in stores can be frozen just as is. otherwise ribs that are bought only in meat wrap should be vacume sealed for best results or with freezer paper. i personaly dont freeze anything longer that 6 months. basicly gets eaten by then anyway.

over the years i have seen products in stores while i was working and now as a customer with freezer burn already on the product. this idea that just because its in a plastic bag and will last over a year is total bunk. the longer something is frozen the quality will be affected.

vacume sealing is the best way to go. one has to be carefull not to puncture a hole in the wrap regardless of how small it is. once you loose your seal, freezer burn will start. i have wrapped meat and sausage in freezer wrap for years. even after a year the meat was still in great shape. [this was mostly venison which i did keep longer than 6 month just so i could strech out the meals].

so the bottom line is use your meat up withing a year if properly wrapped. zip lock type bags are not good for long term freezing. use real freezer paper, vacume seal, or freeze a product that is already vacume sealed. good luck.

Rh...Ad is good thru July 5th, and says : Hormel "always tender' pork spareribs, $1.88 lb., previously frozen...which is what I figured. I've never seen these at Hy Vee, might be worth checking out. Mine from Waldo World yesterday are Farmland, and were frozen. I've always had good luck with Farmland stuff...

st. louis ribs for 1.99 is a great price. i prefer these ribs myself overall. for those out there that dont know what a st. louis type spare rib is, it's a spare rib without the brisket. served at many resturants and normaly around 4 bucks a pound for the most part trimmed. good grillin and good luck.
