PurpleFloyd
One thing that has came of this is, I used to support a publicly financed stadium for the Vikings, after watching them clowns argue over money like they are, I am totally against it. Let them pay for their own place to play a game, or let them go to LA! Here we have families loosing their homes, and going hungry, we have states cutting funding to all sorts of things, such as teachers, nursing homes, schools, etc.. We have federal govt trillions of dollars in the hole, which will take several life times to pay back. And these spoiled million/billionaires want us to pay for a place for them to play a game, so they can over charge for everything from tickets, to pop, beer, food, and still complain they dont want to pay taxes on the money they so called earned! Forget them! I had that philosophy before the lockout so you can imagine it hasn't gotten any better.
Juneau4
The 9.3 Billion the NFL took in last year does anyone have any idea where that amount comes from? Is it just tickets, TV rights, and stuff with NFL printed on it? Concessions does the owner get a percentage of that separate that is not included in the 9.3 billion? CJH
FYI ~ Supposedly today the NFLPA (Player's Assoc) told the incoming rookies not to attend the NFL Draft, even though until they are drafted they aren't union members yet, and the union no longer exists and so can't legally tell them anything...... Seems to help support the owners claim that the union de-certification is a bargaining ploy/scam.

MuleShack
Here's my take on the whole situation. The players ought to let the owners take that extra 1 Billion a year out and then that 1 billion goes to purchase a new stadium for 1 team each year starting with the ones in worst need. Then after 30 years everyone would have a new stadium and it starts over again. they league would be self sustaining and the cities wouldn't have to "support" them and they take in all the revenue from "ALL" the events at the statiums. After hearing how much they take in each year for playing 20 games, it DOES make me wonder why each state has to supplement them with a stadium by the tax payers. Juneau4
Sounds good: Now convince the owners to spend their money instead of having it given to them.
FutbolGuru
I've been as big a fan of the NFL as anyone over the past 15 years... However, I strongly dislike the direction the league is going. With 10 minute replay breaks, the fines, rule changes, etc. my interest in the game is dwindling fast - the lockout is just icing on the cake. I hope the NFL owners and players both lose out BIGTIME as their fan base will soon realize there is indeed life without the NFL.I love professional football - not the NFL. FISHINGURU
They need to come out with another league similar to the NFL with less drama, if there was another league I'd boycott the NFL, can't really stand that arena style.
Big Tom
I think a lock out would do some people a lot of good. I was a football junkie with 8 fantasy teams etc. until my kids got to be 4 and 5. Then I could take them fall fishing and out to the stand or just for a walk in the woods in the fall.I haven't looked back and don't miss those wasted Sundays at all. You can't get the time back and I just no longer saw it as time well spent.

There all ready is another pro league. If the cba is not figured out soon a lot of the UDFA will or may go there. Not to mention possibly some veterans. Who knows, just because they are drafted they still could go play there. The NFL cant sign them but the UFL can.
CJH
UPDATE (From Pro Football Talk.com):As expected, a ruling on the players’ motion to lift the lockout came Monday. As expected, the ruling favors the players.Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Judge Nelson has issued a ruling in favor of the players. The NFL reportedly will seek an immediate stay of the implementation of the decision. All of this was expected as the MPLS Judges have ruled in the players favor on every lawsuit brought to them. The big question will be if the Owners will be granted a Stay until their appeal is heard.
