I know many of you may prefer ice fishing, but I'm dying here. Ice fishing is okay, but I can't wait for open water again!!!! I can't wait to get out on the boat and fly around searching the rock piles, points and weed beds. Hurry up spring!! I can’t wait anymore!!

Rainy River will be open in a couple months. Red Wing will be opening by than too. I wonder how all the snow will affect the rivers this year...

Hey fish head you might want to check out red wing a few months earlier. It's open year round, and way closer than Rainy. I'll be in my boat this weekend. Sorry that you want to wait a couple more months cause the walleyes in Red Wing will be done by then.

Hard to believe considering it was -22 this morning but the forecast shows highs in the upper 30's for the next three days. I think it's time to move this topic to the top again!

I was going to pick up a boat this off season, but instead must purchase a house. Oh well... got the shore spots all scouted out and i can always borrow my dad's boat when he's not using it smile

I just double checked the avg ice out dates for a lake I have some property on... about 2 months away! That's not long at all!!!

Priorities, my man!! Priorities!!! laugh

I bought my boat before my house laugh. I figure I can Live and fish on the boat if I had to but I can't fish out of my house

Should have wrote a deal where the seller pays for a boat and not the closing costs.

I was going to start saving up for a cheap boat and a new finesse setup for this upcoming season, but my transmission went out in my car. SO MUCH FOR THAT..... Cant we just make the priorities go away some how?

This happened to me. I had found a nice 14' lund for about a grand through a buddy of mine. When I was at a class after work one night, about to get the check to the guy for the boat, a pile of snow fell from the roof onto the hood of my car. That took care of boat purchase attempt number 1.

I like the idea of negotiating a boat into the mortgage deal. "I'll offer you x and cover closing if you find a nice 14-16 foot fishin boat with a 25-35hp motor..."

I found a foreclosure that comes with two working snowmobiles, that's kinda neat.

i did the same thing years ago [except the cigars] for long periods of time. now i do it but not as long of a time. dont worry about it, if you are a fisherman there is no cure for it except actualy getting on the lake. good luck.

Hate to rain on the parade. We cut holes yesterday and I have about 3-inches more before the extension has to go on the auger. I have not had to use an extension for the past 10-years here in Alex. I think ice-out maybe a little slower this spring. frown

Last weekend I opened all the clearance cranks purchased throughout the winter and restocked my tackle box. It looks like so much fun about to be had.

Sadly, this week's weather made spring feel like it is a million miles away again.

I just want to cast- is that so wrong?

I was supposed to spend the weekend at LOW, but my fishing buddy had a family emergency and the trip fell through at the last minute, so today became a boat day. Vacuumed last season's sand and grit out, changed the lower unit oil, organized all the tackle boxes, re-spooled all the reels put the rods in the boat, aired up the tires, repacked the bearings, shined up the interior and windshield and plugged in the charger. I'm ready to go either north or south as soon as the ice lets loose. 4 to 6 weeks before the lines hit the water.
