Help me find the answer in the regs or if state law

This thread is almost as good as the one about the guy asking if he owes 3 dollars to a guy for catching the first, biggest and most fish since only 1 fish was caught.

Both pale in comparison to "big chafing" back in 1/09. Hil-friggin-larious read!!

I had my 5 yr old nephew with me on a duck hunting trp and we were on the way back to the motel from the slough when he had to go. I told him I'd pull over but he preferred I just drove faster. Needless to say I didn't see the patrol until it was too late. Lady patrolman got to the driver window when he yelled he couldn't hold it anymore. He jumped out, pulled it out right where his feet landed and peed standing in the open door. She laughed. No tickets for either of us. Must not be illegal.

So kids, in a nutshell, you can rid yourself of fluid bodily waste in waters that are not within the city limits of a municipality that outlaws UIP. So, let it flow in the BW, but not on Lake Harriet.

Actually, this thread should of been shut down after the "$100 an inch" crack. But, we all know that when it was appealed "upon further review", the fine was reduced to $50.00.

That should just about do it.

I hate to revive this thread but....... My answer from the DNR,

Sorry it took a few days to get back to you in reference to your question. I wanted to make sure that I provided the best answer I could for you. Besides the below statutory reference all other violations in regards to depositing human waste into a lake are in the jurisdiction of the individual county zoning laws. My best guess would be that it would be illegal but I don’t have knowledge of each zoning law. The PCA has laws that pertain to cities and larger facilities and leaves the individual systems up to each county. I know in the past officers have used the statute provided below as a means to control such behavior. If you have any other questions please let me know. CAPT. Phil Meier

617.23 INDECENT EXPOSURE; PENALTIES.

Subdivision 1.Misdemeanor.

A person who commits any of the following acts in any public place, or in any place where others are present, is guilty of a misdemeanor:

(1) willfully and lewdly exposes the person's body, or the private parts thereof;

(2) procures another to expose private parts; or

(3) engages in any open or gross lewdness or lascivious behavior, or any public indecency other than behavior specified in this subdivision.

Yup, typical DNR to site a law that ISN'T PERTINENT to the situation/question at hand.

The question regards the legality of PEEING IN A LAKE

DNR sends an answer regarding the illegality of letting your winky hang out.

Well, you can walk around with winky hanging out and never stop to pee. I think we all knew already that this would be illegal, but it has nothing to do with peeing.

You can also pee in the lake without exposing winky. Consider summer-time, treading water, loose boxer-style swim trunks and the swimmer releases a warm stream. So is THAT a violation of some ordinance or regulation?

There's no statute specifically against public urination so I'd imagine as long as you used conceal & carry, you'd be alright.

reminds me of an outing this summer...

Boat Driver: "hey, did we bring the thunder bucket"

Me: "oh no, dude, I left it on the dock."

Boat driver: "Well reel em in boys, unless you really want this to get awkward"

It's only illegal if you pee on a 21 inch box fan!

Hmmmm good idea next time someone 'parks too close and drills during prime time 'makes too much noise' and 'has a noisey generator' I may have to borrow a outlet off it, plug in the box fan, open their door and turn on the fan then . . . .

I looked all through the regs and far as I can see there is no mention so it must be legal long as they cant see though the fan. grin

sorry it has been a long week !

FWIW, local police here told a complaining neighbor that unless she sees her neighbor (not me, honestly, no really...) winky that he can pee all he wants next to his garage out in the dark of night. Not saying it is law, but just what was said... smile and that is in the city!

    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
    • I went ahead and watched some of the MLF coverage.  Wheeler didn’t make the cut but the bigger story was the Poche/Avera fallout.   Kinda funny listening to both sides of the story and putting together the scenario, reading between the lines.
