Venom Bobbers - I'm sold.

After forgetting it at home for a couple weeks I gave it the trial run yesterday...

Yep, it's time to make the switch. It brings a tear to my eye to have to take a star player, a tried and true veteran on the field and stick him on the bench next to the chubby darters I'd trade for a draft pick. At some point though you have to acknowledge that the new guy is much more versatile.... plus he glows in the dark laugh

Ice Buster, we a good run old friend. I'll still put you in the game, but it will be the retired player charity game that happens when my bum brother in law needs to borrow my stuff.

Venom bobbers are great! Glad to hear that you enjoyed them. They really do work as advertised.

Yeah, LMIT one of my main objections to them early on was that you speak so highly of them winkcoolwink but hey what can you do... they are a superior product.

My question is---Do the Venom Bobbers go down more often than the

Ice Busters do? Just wondering!!!!

Yes they do. With the Venom you can adjust the boency with such ease to detect the lightest of bites.

Yes you can do that with the ice buster but its not easy and if you cut to much off your stuck, time to start over. ;)More than not with an ice buster I say close enough with Venom I dont have to settle with close enough.

Its a superior product hands down or should I say BOBBERS DOWN !

CF - I'm thinking you missed the humor. He didn't ask if they go down easier, he asked if the go down more often grin

Mike - I asked the Venom lady the same thing at the ice show and she said you can get them at Thorne Bros or online... Not sure what that's all about, but I would be willing to guess they are working on expanding the availability.

tried the venom last year and instantly hooked on them. I believe you will catch more fish with them, so they do go down more often, there is no more missing fish with the lightest bite when you can set bouyancy to almost neutral so easily, with any weight/combination lure you have. And this year I picked up the glow in the dark for the nite bite and its very nice not to have the big light on the whole time. Very well made and easy to use.

Yup. They are the best.

Caught a nice 25" walleye in a metro lake on Friday that I'm sure I would not have caught without the Venom float set "just so".

Fishing in 14' of water, and had the minnow set at 13'.

Had the Venom float set to nuetral bouyancy.

Wasn't paying attention for some time (no good crazy ), look over and the float is one foot under the ice.

Set the hook and pulled her through the hole.

I don't know how long she had been hooked, but it was clear to me that she grabbed the minnow and went straight down to the bottom of the lake to digest.

If I hadn't had the float set "just so", most likely she would have felt the resistance and spit the bait. Of course you can adjust the ice buster bobbers to the same boyancy by trimming them, but the infinite adjustment available with the Venom floats makes it so much simpler and less complicated.

Agreed on the Venom's. Just bought one last week at the store and finally see what all the hype is. I love having the neutral buoyancy and they are so easy to adjust to PERFECT and still reuse on your next jig without having cut too much off.

I have still yet had to cut the venom. Between the two different foam pieces I have had it working perfectly with every jig tried so far.

I got the new model this year at the ice show and yes I cut a slit in it and the glow one works awsome. the plastic is softer now so they dont break now but with the old style bobbers you just have to heat up the plastic part a bit before you cut it.

Dtro the glow really helped with the cat bite for Joey and I earlier this season

I will be picking up a venom kit before Saturdays Ice Crushers get together. I want to hit the ice prepared. So what is the cut you are all talking about since I do not have one in front of me to view the "mark"? Why am I going to cut it? I am only guessing it is to be able to put it on and take it off the line without having to retie? Or is the cut made in the foam insert to lessen the air-lock to make moving the foam easier?

Thanks for the info as this looks like I can give away 3/4 of my fixed bobbers now! I am guessing it will be a replacement for my pan fish bobbers in the summer as well?

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
