Are they still biting?

I'm going both days. Upper 50's in Nov?!?! Take advantage, plus it's the deer opener. I don't think a lot of people will be out on the lakes. Now getting them to bite is another story, but I'm not giving up yet.

Good point Nick, it is important to plan ahead before you go this time of year. You should know the lake and what the landing is like. I have had some tricky days at the launch the last few times out. As far as fishing goes, some of my best days of the year come in the fall. If you can find em' it will be a good day.

I went out this weekend to a local river to try and get more comfortable with drop shot. Didn't expect much...other than cold hands. In about 2 hours of fishing, I ended up with two nice meals of walleyes, which was a nice surprise, and no bass at all. No big fish, pics of the two largest fish below grin

I'm guessing just under 20" eye

Yes they are still biting. I got 9 largemouth yesterday in about 4 hours of fishing. fish were in the upper water column eating slow falling plastics on the fall. biggest was 20.5 also got a 19.5, 19 and 18. Probably my last time in the boat for the year though.

Went out yesterday morning for a while. Did some casting from dock but all the lure did was bounce and skid along the ice. And I just could not cast far enough to get to open water. And then line froze to rod.

But boy.....if I just coulda got out to that open water I'll bet I woulda caught a 24 incher.

In fact, when I returned to cabin and my wife asked me how I did I said, like a genuine fisherman, "Man....I almost caught a 24-incher!"

well it was actually a pretty fun day. The toughest part was pulling my truck up the ice covered boat launch. i kicked a bunch of gravel onto it which seemed to do the trick. i just dressed like i was going ice fishing. if i can still get on it this weekend, i will be out there.

the lake I wanted to fish iced over friday night. i did get out on another lake but it is one i rarely do well on. this time was no different, skunked. the strong winds made it difficult to fish slow. I'm going to check my lake again tonight, all this rain may open it up again. if so, i may try to hit it in the morning for a while before work.
