BlueLundFishrman
Foxborough, Mass -- With the Minnesota Vikings chances of making the playoffs appearing dimmer and dimmer with each passing week, and with the continued pounding he has been taking from opposing defenses, Vikings' quarterback Brett Favre is set to announce his retirement from the NFL. The holder of numerous NFL passing and consecutive games played streak, has suffered from tendinitis in his elbow, broken bones in his foot, and lacerations to his chin, and the season is not even half over. He is also the subject of an NFL investigation into lewd photos and voicemails he left with female employees of the Jets organization. While not the way he envisioned stepping out, the reality of what the Vikings future holds this season, makes stepping away midseason an easier choice, and allows him to work on steps to save his marriage. Tarvaris Jackson will reinherit the starting position he lost when Favre was signed last season. The Vikings may be looking to sign Jamarcus Russell as their third string quarterback after Favre makes his official announcement.

Steve Foss
Favre has all the weaknesses that have been well documented throughout his NFL career. We've all seen that and been there. And today we saw how tough he is, which we've also known for a long time. He is now the enemy, me being a longtime Pack fan, but anyone who ignores his irrepressible drive to play to the best of his ability ignores it at their own risk. Vikes have gotten themselves in a deep hole for sure. Can they get out? Maybe. Maybe not. Skol Brett! Skol Packers!
SkunkedAgain
To bring in a racing analogy, Favre is and always has been a "checkers or wreckers" type of player. Unfortunately, lately they are towing him off the field more often than handing him the checkered flag.
JBMasterAngler
I don't believe for a second he's retiring! On that note...I refuse to believe the vikes couldn't find someone better than jamarcus russell to fill in the 3 spot.
harvey lee
Farve is retiring!! LOL. Really this is not even worth responding too.I get a kick out of the GB fans who once adored Brett and now slam him. Boy, thats true loyalty.

mr_jman
Favre probable caught wind of Moss going on waivers and figured this was his BEST and ONLY chance to still be the topic of discussion and get his name in the news and on the ESPN ticker this week. Sorry Favre, but I think Moss stole your supposed thunder for one week!
