Recommended Posts

OK, I know I have to remember to bring my oarange cloths, boots gun/bullets lic, etc, But I always seem to forget something, Either I forget to write it down or forget all together, So Lets make a list of the things we forget/cant live without or wish you had. I always seem to forget to put new batteries in my light. Please add.

I started filling up my big rubbermaid container with my hunting gear last night. I put it on the list if it is already packed, and make a list of all the things that i need to get, or haven't packed yet....Will be checking it twice and prepared this year.

Something i forgot a few years back...never trust even your father when he says that "It's sighted in and good to go". laugh

Camo handkerchief...shaking out that white one in order to use it always seems to make the deer run away ;-)

5 gallon kitchen trash bag to accompany your pee bottle and TP (I think they can smell stuff from both ends, so I do not take a chance)

Spare set of socks (liner and wool). I always seem to hit a deep hole or two in the swamp. I get flooded, even with knee boots. It's nice to be able to change sock and have fairly warm and dry feet.

GPS. I like to mark where I shot the deer, follow the blood trail and recover the beast.

Camera, nice to take a photo before gutting.

wet wipes... cleaning up any mess after gutting and for the nature call!

ziploc bags for heart, liver, tongue.. if you're into that

gutting gloves.... yeah, I'm that sissy guy!

zip tie or string for tag

flagging tape... sure helps to mark a bad blood trail... step back to look at it and the land can help you track a deer

small bone/pruning saw... last minute shooting lanes and for field dressing

Sportcat heater for the stand. Isnt much but nice to warm the fingers on cold mornings. Binoculars, nice to have for distant deer to figure out which direction they are headed or how big. Tree umbrella for those rainy days. Headlamps, love walkin into the woods handsfree. The red light is nice and pretty bright real early in the morning. Jerky and candy bars!!! Helps to unwrap them and put them in a zip lock. Less noise getting them out. Backpack, Gotta get everything out there.
