Do what my neighbors do, although it can't be proven, buy her a license, let her sleep in and she can tag your first and possibly 2nd deer of the season. Then you can hunt for Mr. Big, bow hunt late season or go muzzy hunting.JK but I'm not kidding about "my neighbors". Lots of tags are spared during the cover of darkness and deer that should make the season aren't.

I think an awful lot of people do. I would think about it this way. The CO is not out there plotting ways to give tickets. Every one that I have ever dealt with is a very nice person and even when I did something wrong such as not posting my name and address outside the fish house, he simply told me to put it on their and wished me luck. I would have a hard time believing your wife will get a ticket for sitting in the stand with you, unless she is holding a gun or walking around in the woods while you sit in the stand.

With the state as short as it is with money, if I were you, I would plan on paying a fine for hunting without a license.

But if she is not hunting she shouldn't need a license. I think the lawyers have a lot of you guys reading into this too much. What if I take my wife fishing, should I get a fine because she wants to come along for the ride? This is assuming I am the only one actually fishing.

Just kidding about the wife thing although we know it's true in quite a few cases, a friend of mine last winter showed me 2 awesome bucks he shot, the first one he said wink wink wink the wife got lol, the 2nd one I got, I told him I was way less impressed. Take her with, you'll be fine. 1 CO thing is my mother in law hitting your post bear, the 2 year old on the pontoon couldn't cast his line out of course, she did, and she got ticketed for not having a license, good spat as she thought her husband bought the husband/wife combo lol.

so if you are with a group of buddies and one guy does not hunt only goes for the enjoyment of being outdoors, he cant help? Does assisting including helping track a wounded animal or helping you gut and carry one out? Seems like the whole law needs to be reviewed. In AZ, i can go with my buddies, help them out, as long as they do not pay for my gas or give me cash for helping, this becomes a guide thing then.

This thread, is actually kind of funny. I'm sure there are plenty of guys that try and keep their wives OUT of the tree stands during this time. I'm not one to get into a pi$$ing match with anyone about this. You are legal, if you don't believe us, call the DNR, if you don't believe the DNR and are still worried, by one less case of beer and buy your wife a license. I personally, would not buy my wife a license so she can sit with me, nor would I worry about it, but that is just me.

why would any of you want your wife in the stand with you complaining...talking, checking her text machine. When I'm in the stand, its the only peace and quiet I get. Follow my example, hunt alone...go to mexico together over thanksgiving.

mnhunter79, I called the CO and they said she would, but someone else called and said she would not. So I guess I started this topic to get opinions. Thanks for your input I will make sure I ask you what I should do before posting next time.

I'm with ya trigger, I married my wife because she "wants no part of getting up at 5:30AM after a busy week of work" She gets her girl time whatever she chooses to do and I get time with male friends and family and some absence makes the heart grow fonder. We do a lot of fishing together, she loves that ice or water style and loves to eat them. She kinda cringes at the sound of a rifle or shotgun report. Those that have a hunting wife etc. I think that's really cool to. I'm just glad they support what we love to do !
