Mountable Smallie??

Hey Guys,

I am wondering what you all consider a mountable smallie? I enjoy catching them, but have not really ever targeted them and never caught one over 16". While up at the family cabin this weekend my 5yo was on the dock and caught the biggest one I have ever seen. It came in at 21" and was just a beast. After measuring and snapping some pictures she was released to bite another day. Is that one that you would consider having a replica made??

Nice catch. Good job on the CnR, too. A 21" smallie is a big fish. Definately a fish worthy of a replica, especially if it has special memories behind it.

absolutly, what a memory for a lifetime for your son. in general fish dont have to be that super trophy that people talk about it can also be that special moment of a special trip. my friend has a mount of a 11 pound king salmon he cought one morning off shore in front of the babtism river very early in the morning on his way back home from a camping trip. took pictures and measured it and ate the salmon and had a replica made. good luck.

I've got a few at 21" so I'm holding out for something bigger than that. Might never happen, who knows. With that said, a 20" & above smallie is a darn nice fish.

A 21" smallie is HUGE and is a MN trophy! Cripes, I think my biggest is 20.5" and I've been fishing for them for decades.

Thanks for the replies. I do believe I have been convinced that a smallie that size is not a regular occurence and would look great in his room! His little brother might be a little dissapointed since he did catch the biggest fish of the weekend with an assist from Dad, a carp on a kids pole that was way more than the neighbors 24lb scale! Never caught a carp at the cabin before...

Once I get the pics from my brother I will try and get them posted. It was quite a day.

I recently caught a 21.5" smallie, my biggest bass ever. Looking at getting a replica. I've always said my first 5lber whether a largemouth/smallmouth is going on the wall. It's taken me all these years to finally accomplish this feat.

For sure good thing you did release it as the season is catch and release only from 2nd weekend in sept on! (amazing how many people dont know that) Thats a BIG one no matter what show us some photos

Might be cute to get a replica of your largest too in the same mount.. to show your kid how much bigger his is... LOL
