Will Alabama repeat as National Champions?

I'm tired of all this talk about the goofy gophers sleep so I thought I'd start a thread about a real division 1 football program. smirk

Looks like a lot of the usual suspects like USC, Florida and Texas are down this year. Ohio State looks to be tough as usual this year. I'm still not sure if I'm sold on Boise State, Oregon or TCU.

SEC competition is always tough as Bama found out the hard way against Arkansas last Saturday. It looked as though a young defense got exposed in that game but I put the blame on the defensive coaching staff having a poor game plan. Alabama's line was putting 0 pressure on the Arkansas QB even though their DBs could not cover the Hog's wide receivers. Finally in the second half Bama got around to dialing up the blitz and they took over the game the way they should have.

I am a Bama fan, always have been so I beleive they can repeat and they will. I have never seen a team any better than Bama is right now.

Can Bama repeat? If not, who do you think it will be then?

They are good enough, but I don't think they will. Too many things can go wrong and in college football, ONE PLAY can ruin a National Championship run. I just think with the year they had last year they are due for a clunker that will keep them from winning it, even though they may be the best team.

I don't really have a prediction. I would like to see the small schools like Boise State and TCU play for it, just to stick it to the supposed BIG schools and their conferences and to expose the flaws in the system we have right now...

It is tough to go through that conference unscathed.... especially 2 years in a row. I'm not sure Ohio State is better, but with 'Bama's young defense, Pryor will give them some fits should they meet for the title. I just enjoy watching college football because the only team I'm really a "fan" of is, well.... a joke, so I can just enjoy the games.....

If there was a team that could do it, it's Bama. The SEC, while still a tough, tough conference, seems to be a little down this year as opposed to the last couple years. That's good, if the Tide are to run the table. And Alabama might be one of the few teams that could possibly still get into the championship with one loss. Of course, it's all just wild guessing at this point. We're only four weeks in, and many teams have yet to prove anything.

Prediction? Talk to me in late October, after things shake out a bit. My dream scenario involves a replay of the 1972 Orange Bowl. A guy can dream, right?

Oregon could be a force to be reconed with too. Even though they destroyed stanford, and still have some tough teams ahead, they'll have to rely on ohio state to lose a game to get to the national title game. That's too bad, because an alabama - oregon showdown would be ALOT more exciting than watching bama beat down the buckeyes by 4 or more TD's.

IF iowa runs the table--- only loss at AU,,, they deserve a shot as much as Boise or any other 1 loss team. Their def is the best in the land,, and CLAyborn needs to become a Viking.

My pick-

Boise State--- as long as the BCS gives them a chance,,, they will smoke ALA like UTAH did a few years ago.

Boise State is looking better and better nowadays with virginia tech and oregon state getting back on track...both teams will be ranked come monday. Michigan State is looking like the team to beat in the big ten...although an undefeated team coming out of the conference is becoming more and more unlikely. Boise State vs. Auburn in the national title game anyone? shocked

Nope, not gonna happen!! Oregon and Nebraska for the national championship.......the huskers and coming back to college football dominance!!

I also hope that Nebraska can make it back as I am a die hard husker fan. Our team matches up very well for the Big 12 this year. So long as Texas plays well after our matchup next week, and Oklahama has a good showing, our strength of schedule could be enough to put us into it. Especially since the BCS hates Boise and TCU.

Alabama will be in the hunt later this year too I suspect, even after todays loss.

My pick would be Nebraska vs. Ohio State though. Just to give us a nice preview of next year in the Big 10!

Huskers will get beat bt OU in the conf title game. OU will lose one along the way.

The National title game selection will be a mess. 5-7 one loss teams from major confs with TCU and Boise being unbeaten. THe only caveat is Oregon,, but OSU will show them their toughest road test all year. IF Oregon goes unbeaten,, they have to be in the mix,, along with Boise. Ohio ST will go down at Iowa.

They Rolled over this week! smile

I have a feeling some heads will be ROLLING after Coach Saban gets a hold of some players and coaches.

Alabama Defense = EXPOSED!

Just not the same D-line as last year and the game plans the last 2 out of 3 weeks have been pathetic.

Why wasn't Ingram getting the ball? The best RB in the land and it seamed that he was not really in the game plan as normal.

IMO, Richardson is a better running back anyway but the Tide got behind early and went away from the awesome running attack in favor of their mediocre passing attack. Go figure.

Here is my dream. That in future yrs teams will stop playing Our Sisters of the Poor in the nonconference games so we wont have to have these conversations.

Right now the SEC looks exactly like the Big 10 from 6-8 yrs ago. A lot of teams that look good but get beat when the big games happen. I truly think when bowl games start that the truth shall be seen.
