I'm not sure how the system works but there is a limit on which players can be sent back down and which can't. Those that can't have to clear waivers before being sent back to the minors. Someone with more knowledge will probably clear tyis up.

doesn't sound like he was going to get much of a shot in the Twins organization when Gardy stated that he was happy for Fox and hoped he could impress the Red Sox and find himself a roster spot.

i dont understand how this guy was not on our radar before this.. the numbers he put up in rochester this year were pretty respectable considering how bad rochester was this year

I may be proven wrong but I doubt we'll kick ourselves too hard for losing him. Lets keep in mind he has pitched only 1 game.

Lets also keep in mind the fact that the hitters he was facing had absolutely no knowledge of him as an opponent. Not having a scouting report on you is a big advantage. I suspect if he sticks around a while and players get a decent report on him then we'll start to see him get hit around a bit more. Think back to when Ramos came up for the first time. He hit the crud out of the ball, until pitchers realized he can't hit the breaking ball. We then say Ramos plummet back down to earth.

Fox may turn out to be a decent player but I don't think we just let Johan Santana 2.0 walk out the door.

woooaahhh easy there Nofishfisherman.... no where in my post did i say we had the second coming of Johan Santana in Fox. All I am saying is this guy has a great minor league track record in terms of being a "back end" of the rotation guy in the majors. His career minor league ERA is 3.6 and has a career 363 to 133 strikeout to walk ratio which shows he has great control. He has also shown he can handle substantial work loads in terms on number of innings pitched, which shows he had enough in the tank to be a SP. I'm not saying, nor have I said, that he is the next Johan Santana. However, I do believe his minor league track record shows enough positives, as well as his first game in the majors, to show that he could possibly be a legitimate back end of the rotation guy in the majors. The reason scouts, MLB teams, and analysts pay attention to minor league statistics is that players usually perform similarly throughout their career. Meaning, a player who bats .280 for 5 years in the minors, when he gets called up to the majors, he may go on a steak of batting 200 or maybe even 350, but when he "comes back down to earth", he is probably going to perform like a 280 hitter.

Just surprised to see anyone giving much thought to losing Fox. He's just another guy who has ok numbers in the minors. He may be able to do that in the majors but that has yet to be seen.
