DTro
Everything pointing to a trade in the works today.Vikings plane apparently in SD right now....
zepman
Well, if they get a deal done I hope it will eventually spell the end for Berrian. Sign him to a multi-year contract and release Berrian at the end of the year...earlier if Rice comes back 100%!!!
zepman
Reports are out that a deal has been completed with the Vikes...no official announcements yet though.
Antero
Didn't #4 just say that he and the recievers are haveing a hard time jelling? Why does everyone think that this guy can come in and instantly turn things around. These current rcvers have been with #4 for over a year and they are not on the same page. True Jackson is a cut above them but won't it still take some time?
Antero
By the way, are Allen, Longwell and Hutch on that plane? Any begging going on?
Mimic Shiner
Directly from Wikipedia at 1:19 central time"Vincent Jackson aka "Action Jackson" (January 14, 1983 - September 21, 2010) was a former NFL receiver for the San Diego Chargers. Jackson died of alcohol poisoning on the morning of September 21, 2010."He must have heard a trade to the queens was imminent.
FISHINGURU
This is stellar if it's all true, lets sign him long term, even if this season is a bust we still need a true blue legit #1, but he better lay off the booze.
Scott K
I would give the Chargers a second round pick for Jackson, but no more! He is good, and would be great to have on our team in the future. He would even give other QB's a reason to want to play for Mn, but we have to many other needs to [PoorWordUsage] away more then one pick to get him. We need help on the o-line, we also need help in our secondary, not to mention a QB for the next few years! It would be nice to get him for a 3rd, but I dont want to see them give up more then 1 pick.
FISHINGURU
Well we could turn the worse O-line in football into the best O-line in football if we went and got Mankins.
creepworm
Antero, Jackson is much much more than a cut above what we have right now. They should not even be mentioned in the same sentence.
FISHINGURU
What is your guy's source of information saying our plane is in San Diego and a deal has already been made but not announced yet?

FISHINGURU
Last I heard was the Chargers were looking for a 2nd round pick this year and a 4th or 5th the next year.
Scott K
I would go a 2nd this year, and maybe a 6th or 7th next year.
snoozebutton
Looks like the deal might be dead.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Vikings-deal-for-Jackson-not-looking-good?urn=nfl-271453 Quote: The San Diego Chargers have till four Eastern this afternoon to unload suspended wide receiver Vincent Jackson(notes) or he'll have to stick around San Diego and miss a couple of extra games. Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole's sources tell him that the Minnesota Vikings offered a second-round pick and a conditional pick in 2011 for Jackson but that is not enough for the Chargers. The trade "looks dead," Cole reports, because San Diego wants a second- and third-round pick next year. The conditional pick is if the Vikings can sign Jackson to a long-term deal rather than just keep him for one, Cole notes. The reason the Chargers want those second- and third-round picks is because the Denver Broncos got two second-round picks back in April when it traded Brandon Marshall(notes) to the Miami Dolphins, though Cole points out that Marshall also agreed to a five-year extension with the Dolphins before the trade occurred.Cole's sources say that Jackson "may structure a long-term contract with another team that includes very little money in the first year, a key component for how compensatory draft picks are determined."While the "most active suitor" is the Minnesota Vikings, which sorely needs some offensive help, the San Diego Union-Tribune notes that there is also "at least one other team on the line," the paper reports

FISHINGURU
The deal is a no go, the next thing us Vikings fans have to look foward to is Chilly getting fired and finding a new QB after the season. Wish we would go for Mankins for Oline help atleast. Its gonna be tough trying to beat teams like the Jets, Pats, Packers, Dallas, ect, with no WR's. SkunkedAgain
The deal is deadQuote:By John Clayton and Bill WilliamsonESPN.comThe San Diego Chargers have rejected several trade offers for wide receiver Vincent Jackson, letting the Wednesday deadline to trade him pass without making a deal, according to multiple sources. The NFL and the NFL Players' Association had agreed to a 4 p.m. ET deadline for San Diego to trade Jackson, which would have allowed him to be active by the fifth week of the regular season; Jackson is under a three-game suspension for past DUI offenses. When he did not sign his restricted free agent tender, the Chargers placed Jackson on an exempt list, which prohibited him from playing for three more weeks.By letting Wednesday's deadline pass, the Chargers will keep Jackson on the exempt list for the first six weeks of the season. San Diego still can trade him by the Oct. 19 trade deadline."We had multiple offers and the Chargers squashed them all," Jonathan Feinsod, one of Jackson's agents, said. The Minnesota Vikings were willing to give up a second-round draft choice and an additional conditional pick to the Chargers, a source said. Another source said Jackson had even worked out a financial package with the Vikings.Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said he would only trade Jackson if he received the right value, and he would make a trade only with a team of his choosing.Feinsod was critical of Smith, saying "Archie Manning had it right," a reference to Manning's reluctance to have Eli Manning play for San Diego after being drafted by the team in 2004. "They call [smith] the Lord of No Rings for a reason."Contacted by ESPN, the Chargers declined comment.
mrklean
why would a team who has no benefit by keeping him asking so much? doesnt make sense to me
reinhard1
there is still that oct. 19 trading deadline so you never know. they want as much as they can get. good luck.
zepman
why would a team who has no benefit by keeping him asking so much? doesnt make sense to me The chargers will still receive a conditional 3rd rounder for him next year.A.J. Smith is a freakin moron...he just could have robbed the Vikes big time and he wouldn't pull the trigger. Greed, alone on his part...and if I were a Chargers fan, I'd be furious over his refusal to take the 2nd rounder and conditional pick the Vikes were offering.I'm glad the Vikes stood their ground...I thought they were offering too much for him anyway. We are going to need ALL the draft picks we can muster come next spring...by the looks of things, they should be some pretty good(high) picks as well. FISHINGURU
A new coach and a top 10 pick would be sweet lol, Gruden or Cowher?
zepman
Either one would work for me...how great would it be to have Gruden on our sidelines!!
nonteepical
your not going to lure a top coach here without a good QB in place. that's why their waiting for the "right fit" for a job. QB is one of the main things they look at before taking a job, they want to be able win right away because they only have about 3 years to make their system work.
