bogwalker
Just remember they will probably walk away calmly, don't forget a change of undies back in the truck you might need a few. What do you do?
Archerysniper
I do the same thing wait till its pitch black then climb down.
x1957x
How do you no that thier at the bait as most bears are so quiet you never hear them at all. seeing how it would be after dark how would you no one is close? Be prepared for a long nite if there is, or get down after shooting hours are over, usually when you cant see threw your site or whatever. There should be enough light to exit OUT of the tree and leave very quiet. Thats only my opinion under these circumstances.-----57---
Boar
Ohhweee, the nerves start popping at the dark hour dont they, I wait till I cant feel i can make a clean shot an climb down, if there is a bear on the pile, Well I'll decide what to do at that time given i can tell how big it is, or a sow with cubs. CANOPY SAM
I'd stay in the stand all night. Just kidding. What else are you going to do? When you can't see clearly to take a shot, you gotta quietly climb down and make your way out of the area. That's the bummer about a bear that comes in just past shooting light. You're hosed! You might blow the bear off the bait pile, and never see him again. It's a roll of the dice. But you can't stay there.Personally, I would make it reasonably obvious that I was there while climbing down though. If you've got a big, territorial bear on your bait station, like BW said, there's a chance they'll have significantly less fear of you after dark, and they may not like someone else moving in on their dinner plate. Be assertive, be ready, but also be careful!
fowldreams
Well luck finally happened. 1 of 2 was hit last night. I don't know if it was the cooler weather or what changed. Although the bait that isn't hit the only thing different in bait is I sprayed vanilla extract w/ liquid smoke. Has anyone else had any issues with the vanilla? Anyway I am pumped now.Fowldreams
Matt Breuer
We were 100% today. Feeling pretty good. Most of our pictures are during daylight, but one of the nicer blacks is coming into one of the stations after dark. I'd say 90% of our pics are during daylight however... We've got one very nice cinnamon coming in this year. I'm sure it's 1 of the 3 we had in last season. Can't wait for next week to arrive! lakeshoremunster
Finally got my baits out last sat, guess the dnr decided to open the forest up, the roads were not even damaged but the trails were kinda messed up, nothing to bad for a wheeler, so dont really know why they closed it.Baited sat, tues, and today, and today 3 out of the 6 got hit, my brothers site got hit with a big boar looks like its over 200, pics were from night time but they think they almost ran into him today, didnt see him but heard something running away towards the swamp when they went to go bait his pile. Sadly mine didnt get hit, not by a bear at least, think a coon got into it. Dont know for sure because i forgot to put the card in the cam on tuesday, made sure to put it in today. lakeshoremunster
Just came back today from the sites, all but one has gotten hit, so im feeling pretty good right now, the bear found my site at 12 midnight yesterday so hopefully now he comes out during daylight. Didnt get good pics of him on the bait, dunno why because the camera senses movement but the crib, only got two shots of his butt, my brother has the same camera and he got 96 pics on it.Guess well see on monday when i go back to bait to see how many shots i have of the bear

bogwalker
One of my favorite baits is getting hit daily. At least one, probably 2 good size bears. This morning when re-baiting something was missing. It was one of the crib logs that is 6' long and weighs about 120 pounds + was missing. My son found it at the edge of the clearing thrown 6' to 8' from the crib. No drag or rolling marks on the ground. I would love to have a video of this.
