Stacy's first turkey

After 16 years I finally convinced my wife to give turkey hunting a try. Yesterday was our first morning. We heard a few gobbles but no takers. Today we went to a spot my brother hunted last week he saw a few jakes and a longbeard. At a little after 6:00 3 jakes came out of the woods and headed towards our decoy. They gobbled and strutted on their way. At 15 yds. I tried to help Stacy and keep our 6 year old son still and video tape. She had a little trouble at first but then BOOM!! One on the ground. 14.5# 5" beard. This was her first time hunting anything and her third time she has shot a gun. She and our son did a great job,I'm proud of both.

Love those Jakes!!! What did she think about the whole thing? Was she excited? Do you think she will do it again?

She thought it was pretty cool. The birds were right in front of us. Two out of the three were strutting the whole time. She was a little nervous about moving so she had a little trouble getting on a bird. She said she would do it again so thats great. Ten minutes after she shot we stayed in the blind seeing it was still early when two coyotes came out at about 150 yds I tried a few lip squeaks but no luck. Both of them enjoyed that.
