I just got a Chris Cornell remake of Billie Jean off iTunes. It was interesting.

I have been on a kick of downloading other remakes some that I thought were good were Mudvayne - King of Pain (Police), Shinedown - Simple Kind of Man (Lynrd Skynrd)

Anyone else know of any good remakes?

One of my favorite CD's is called Loud Rocks. It is a bunch of Hip Hop/Rap groups and a bunch of Rock bands doing covers of each others songs. The deftones also cover simple kind of man. Johnny Cash covers Nine Inch Nails Hurt. Tons more that I can't think of.

One of my favorite albums honoring past and present artist is Cowboy Junkies The Trinity session. The cover songs such as Lou Reeds Sweet Jane, Im so Lonesome I could Cry by Hank Williams and Walking after midnight done by Patsy Cline amongst others.

My favorite is Waltzing Matilda done by Tom Waits the original I believe was a poet back in the late 1800's

The Bangles version of Simon and Garfunkles "Hazy Shade of Winter" was better than the original

The Ataris version of Don Henleys "Boys of Summer" was excellent

Kind of a chick song, but Blake Sheltons "Home" is better than the original

Dynamite Hacks version of Eazy-E's "Boys N Da Hood" is better

And look up Gretchen Wilson/Alice in Chains "Barracuda" on youtube. She can sing. Nancy Wilson from Heart plays with them on it and seems to be enjoying the remake as well.

Alien Ant Farms cover of MJs "Smooth Criminal" was good as well.

Hey Zamboni, I have seen that clip you speak of regarding AIC w/ Gretchen Wilson. AIC seems a bit out of thier element doing that song, but man that girl can belt it out!

The guys from AIC have all been very good, lifelong friends with Ann and Nancy Wilson, since they are all from Seattle. Nancy has to be in her 50's and still looks very good. I think the wierder fit was Gretchen, but she is perfect for that song.

I realize that, still.... On a side note a bunch of us went to see them @ Roy Wilkens last month and was one of the top 3 concerts I have ever been to.

I watch the AIC MTV Unplugged DVD quite often. Too bad Laynes no longer around

Cake: I will survive (gloria gaynor original)

Cracker: Garage D'or 2 disk set, 2nd CD is all covers.

Cracker: Countrysides is mostly covers, they do Up against the wall redneck mother, family tradition and a few others

Social Distortion has some good covers

Bouncing Souls cover Johnny Cash's "Man in Black"

Also the last few albums Cash made with Rick Rubin have a lot of covers including Personal Jesus with John Frushante from RHCP playing the guitar, thats a really good one, bridge over troubled water, NIN hurt, Danny Boy, and lots others.

Everlast's cover of Folsom Blues is pretty good

Red Hot Chili Peppers have done a lot of good covers but you'd have to search youtube to find a lot of them.

Dropkick Murphys cover the Clash's "Guns of Brixton". actually the series Bootlegs and Bsides they did has a lot of covers.

Heard a punk cover of Dylan's "Desolation Row", not sure who does it.

Foo fighters do some great covers but again you'd have to search youtube

Guns N Roses did some good ones too.

I always liked their version of Baker Street with the guitar solo in lieu of the sax solo of the original. Gerry Raferty's original is good on it's own too.

Cowboy Junkies Sweet Jane is on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack CD that I have. Might be one of the better songs on that disc.

Check out "Deadicated". It's various artists doing Grateful Dead covers and is really good.

- Jane's Addiction does "Ripple"

- Los Lobos do "Bertha"

- Bruce Hornsby does "Jack Straw"

- Elvis Costello does "Ship of Fools"

- Cowboy Junkies do "To Lay Me Down"

Lyle Lovett, Indigo Girls, Warren Zevon and others are also on it. Very good stuff.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
