Swimbaits

I really like the hooks that come with the Hollow bellies. I think its a 6/0 hook. I have some 5/0 I find to be too small for 5" paddletails but use them on smaller versions. I have some Yum money minnow hooks that I wouldnt recomend.

Ive never thrown a hard swimbait but I picked these up. I think Ive found my secret weapon for this year.

The 4" BBZ1 in Perch and Bluegill patterns produced on Pool 4 today.

Caught Several Smallies on them.

Caught more pike almost 2:1 on them though.

I bought the a couple slow and fast sink in each pattern.

May have to buy the 6 and 8 inch version to target the bigger Pike.

Fished them around rip rap like I would a jerk bait or spinner bait.

Fished them around wood very carefully but still managed to snag a few times, did not lose any thought!

Who makes those? i bet they were a pretty penny!

You'd be suprised how much things cost when you're not paying for a name brand! Looking at them Id think they would be spendy, too. You cant buy them in MN but if you search online you can find some for sale, they are only sold in a big retail chain down south called Academy.

Out of curiosity, For the soft swimbaits, what size hook would u use to get a better hook set?

For my hook-slot swimbaits that are in the 4-5in size range, a 5/0 usually does the trick.

Most "swimbait hooks" are just EWGs with some lead molded onto the hook 'belly'.
