hulapopper
Can some of you more experienced bass guys give some of us less experienced bass guys a little info about what type of line you use and when and why. For instance when would you use florocarbon as opposed to mono and why. When do you use braids. Not one brand name opposed to the other but which type and why. With all the different types and sizes it can get a little confusing for a guy who doesn't fish as much as he would like. Thanks for your answers. Deitz Dittrich
I dont use as much floro as Cecil does.. I really only use braid for really thick flipping and scum frog situations.. I do use Floro for dropshot.. and for flipping as well.. I use copoly for pretty much everything else. Its really depends on your likes and fishing style. Comit 2
Flouro when I want to go deep. Braid for all others. I sometimes tie 5ft of flouro to the end of my braid line for swimbaits, spinerbaits and flukes.

zepman
I use braid (30lb.) for almost all the different applications except drop-shotting and jig-worm fishing. I fish in stained, dark, weed-infested waters and don't think the Fluero gives me much of an advantage in these situations. I do, however, have lot's of different rod actions that I only use for certain techniques when fishing with the braid.
RK
Hiya - Mono for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, and long casting grubs for smallies.Fluoro for cranks, jigworms, tubes and drop shottingBraid for pitching and flipping, dock skipping and jerkbaits. PerchJerker
I use flouro for dropshot rigs, and occasionally tie on a flouro leader in really clear water for crankbaits.Braid for most of my crankbaits, docks, flippin', etc.Occasionally I use copoly when jig fishing --- I still like having a bit of stretch when I'm jigging, if I'm not in heavy cover. TB Basser
Use to vary dependent on the application. Now it's Braid on just about all the bait castersand Mono on the spinning reels. I do use Floro when I fish extremely clear water on one or two rods or sometime just a leader but don't think it reallymakes much of a difference. Fished alot of tournamentswith a bubby who only used Berkley Solar which is brightyellow and he would out fish me.

Dourque
just wondering before I respool a few rods for open water, can I keep my braided line with a fluorocabon leaders for most applications, ie drop-shots, texas rigs, or should I respool with just fluorocarbon for these apps.? I mainly fish heavy cover with braid and would like to keep my goto rods open to as many apps as possible. if not do I need to add a couple rods to the bag to keep up with the conditions. Am looking to add a 7'6" mh rod/reel combo to the bag. any suggestions? Thanks in advance for all the help you guys always give!!!!
olski
If you feel good about your knot tying you can add a floro leader to braid for just about anything. IMO. As far as a new set up I have been checking out some new product and not knowing what you want to spend a guy can get a heck of a combo for about $250. Dourque
Thanks Olski, I feel I knot with the best of them(former boy scout). what kinda combo are you thinking in the $250 range as it seems well within the budget, seeings how I bought the wife a $550 pair of diamond earrings for the anniversary and got nothing in return! sky's the limit she says! maybe I can make it a double if the price is right. Wayne Ek
I use fluoro. leaders on drop shot rigs. But I would not use it on a T-rig. I stick with straight fluoro.I've had tungsten weights come shooting up the line when a fish jumps and a tungsten weight hitting against the connecting knot on a braid/fluoro. combo will certainly lead to a line breaking.
