A 26.5" eye with a 14" girth would not weigh anywhere close to 9lbs. Unless you have the girth wrong. 18-20" girth maybe. Still a nice fish though and mounting it is up to you. Go for it.

Oh boy arm chair biology 101 at its best there! Some ppl know everything I tell ya!

On a positive note, I will agree with all others and say mount away my friend mount away!

I think you may be wrong Willy I personally caught and released a 26 inch fish that had a 15 inch girth that went 10lbs on the nose it was a beauty and was a well worth mounting but I had caught and got one mounted three days before so one was enough that one was 28 inches with a 18 1/2 inch girth and it went 11 lb 8 oz then two days later C&Red a 12 pounder

MOUNT the fish that is what you should do and congrats on the beast.

did it look like this one

Everyone has there opinion on what size is big enough to mount- so i say if you want it on the wall - go for it. I had one mounted last year for my dad-just over 9 lbs- biggest eye he's ever caught and that maybe the biggest he ever catches cause he's 85 yrs old.

Everyone has their own opinion on what is and isn't a mounter fish. I have always said that a walter over 10 pounds would end up on the wall, but it would also depend on the story behind it, and how it looked-I wouldn't mount something long and skinny. It is completely up to the fisherman who caught it-let us know what you decide.

On a side note, a guy won a fishing contest this weekend with a 12.35 pound walter, and the rumor is that he isn't going to get it mounted because he already has 3 on the wall. What would you do in that situation?

I think I need to weigh my fish on some of these scales.

It's sort of like what a pro told me one time at Mille Lacs when we chatted at the gas station. In pre fishing all these guys were catching 10 lbers left and right. I looked at the results and the big fish for the tourney was a little over 9lbs. I saw him a week or two later and asked him what the deal was. His quote.

"A lot of 10lb fish ended up going 8lbs when they hit a certified scale." grin

Mount whatever fish has the best memory for ya.

The trophy is in the eye of the beholder. Hell a 3 lb walleye to somebody could be a mounter. To many people get caught up in size and weight. Same as deer, its all about the score. It should be about the experience and time spent in the outdoors.

Lets see a picture of this warlock!

Everyone has their own opinion on what size to mount. But why can't someone have multiple mounts? Lets say you mount the 26.5 and catch a 30"er later they sure would like nice together!

yep caveman you are so right on this and thats what I did I have a 28 3/4@9lbs and 6 oz mounted that was gut hooked so I got it mounted thinking someday a gold stringer mount but that notion left soon after then the other one I had mounted is 28 inches and weighs more and they look awsome together

Go for it if that's what you want. I would love to have one on the wall but I'm waiting for a 30. I was close earlier with a 28, but once I measured and knew it wasn't 30 down the hole she went. Memories will last a long time.

I just dropped off a nice gill to have done. Not the biggest that I ever caught but I'm have multiples on driftwood for a "scene".

My son(age 4) caught his first walleye this winter. It was a tad under 10" and he was absolutely heartbroken that we had to release it. I've been tempted to find a taxidermist that would make a replica of it. Then in the future if he catches a real trophy, we could do a mount with the two together.

I had my sons(3 at the time) first 2 crappies mounted, about 6" each. He thinks its the coolest thing in the world.
