Tub Hyfax, how do you protect your fabric?

With the hyfax installed, there are a 32 bolts protruding through the bottom of my sled. I am affraid one of those bolts will catch the fabric. Has anyone else felt this way..? If so what have you done to protect your fabric?

Mine are very low, no botl sticking past the nuts, but I also added a piece of Reflectix down there, takes some of the abuse/bumps that otherwise would go straight to stuff in tub. After one season I was surprised to see how beat down the reflectix got, so there is some jossling going on in the sled, that is for sure. It also makes it nice for cleaning out, and also lightens things up bit down there for if you drop something.

I need to put a piece in my other shack now that I got it... maybe a run for the Menar... is n order smile

The bolts in my Voyager sit down in the tunnels, but I also bought these thin rubber mats that fit together like a puzzel, duct taped all the joints of them and layed that in the bottom. It also helps all the gear from bouncing around. Like when your following guys across Burntside lake at 50MPH! laugh

Did they make them longer? Not only that, does the fabric really touch the bottom of the sled?

On a side note, I like the reflectix idea in the bottom of the tub. I might just go ahead and do that, or maybe even a piece of flexible foam. That would work good for soaking up the moisture and cushioning the contents.

They must have. When I installed hyfax for the first time a couple of years ago, there was barely enough of the bolt left to thread the nut on. This fall when I installed it on my new sled there is plenty left sticking out after all is snugged on.

In 20 plus years of running hi fax I have never had a hole in my canvas from a hyfax screw. I dont think the canvas can even touch them. At least not on the deep tubs of my Otters. I wouldnt worry about it. If you are use some liquid tape, caulk or something like that.

I just bought my first set of Hyfax and haven't put them on yet. If I were to think there is an issue my first thought would be to put some "form-in-place" gasket over them. If you are not familar with it it is basically caulking. I use to use it on my cars when I was young instead of buying gaskets. Otherwise i have used ever since for a lot of different applications.
