I fished Big O today, Lewis point to define it a little better, from daylight until about 12:45 only marked a few fish with no takers.

That Lake will eat your Pride alive...meaning, you can beat them up hard for a few days in the same holes, then you want to throw explosives down past your transducer to NUKE the sniffers the next trip out laugh

Look on the bright side though...the Perch haven't schooled up yet, but have been put on the ice at a good clip already this year. Let's hope things take their course and we shall be fine wink

I will be on The Big "O" tomorrow if anyone is going and wants to pull resources whistle

Take care and remember your steel toed slippers cool

AW

P.S. Callie, I am sorry if we got plans crossed. I had a rough evening with the wife and she did the old..."you can go with your friends up North...wait, you are not going anywhere...the house needs attention" crazycrazycrazy

Aw and I went off Lewis Point today, walking was tough in spots (good ole slush), marked a lot of fish. AW was able to limit out by days end, I wasn't so lucky. For the 3RD straight day I've been skunked. I'm at a frustration high, can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Sorry thanx for letting me vent a little.

fished Oneida today. Between chapmans and larkin. 10-34' of water. 1 small mouth and 3 OK perch. Ice is decent out there runnin bout 5", 3-3 1/2 of which is black. Lots of ankle breakin shove ice. Definately not worth the time spent. Beuty of a day tho. Counted 42 shanties/bucket fishin people over in front of chapmans at one point.. Talked to one guy that came our way via snowmobile and he said hes been catchin perch and waldos regular over there until today.. Im looking for some diferent water for tomorrow if anybody is looking for company.

Cali, you know when its a bad day if you are counting shanties-bucket jumpers whistlecrazy.

UMMM, yea. Its sad cause I couldnt even get mad at the fish on the flasher cause they wouldnt bite!!! They wouldnt bite cause they wernt there!!! madmad I think I marked a total of about 6 fish all day.. sleep Got so bad that we started throwin live minnows down the holes just so we could see them on the flasher grin I also learned that there are 895,562 strands in each of the velcro straps that hold the zipper door open on the scout laugh

Todd that doesn't sound like a very encouraging report. I'm uncertain if I want to brave the temps but, after all, it is called ice fishing. Supposedly we are hooking up with a ride out so it will be minimal exertion in the cold temps so I may give it a try. I'll let you know how we made out if I go; maybe we can get together during the week if things pick up.

Hit the Big O bright and early this morning from Lewis Point. Temps were brutal but somewhat manageable. Iced 1 walleye, lost 3, and released 2. Also did 5 large white perch. Marked alot of fish, getting them to bite was difficult. Still a good day when you can hook up with 6 eyes.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
