Childress Wanted to Pull Favre

It's Chili's fault. He's the friggin coach, and a coach doesn't call a hall of fame player over to ask him what he thinks about getting benched. Totally ridiculous. Either bench him or don't. Don't ask him what he thinks about the idea.

My earlier post said that putting Favre on the bench wasn't such a crazy idea, and I still stand by that. However, the right thing to do would have been to put 'saucer on whatever side Peppers was lining up on to help. Add a few chips by AD or Chester if needed. Peppers should NEVER have been allowed to DOMINATE the way he did.

Explain to me why I'm the only one who thinks this?

We also need to draft or pick up in free agency a stud O-lineman next year.

They could have done that this year with Oher, but they decided to take a player who never practices and barely plays because of "migraines". That's who I want down the homestretch..... smirk

It really doesnt matter if Childress is right or wrong in his decision to want to pull Favre, or whether it would have been a smart move. All that matters is that Childress (the Head Coach) told Favre (the QB, aka player) to sit on the bench, and he refused to. The fact that he refused to, and that this wasnt the first game that he refused to sit when told, is why Favre should be sitting this coming week. Or he should get a good fine from the team, say $25k!

Dont get me wrong, I dont like Chili, I dont like Jackson, and Favre, well I dont like him much either.

Were you there? How do you know that Chili told Favre he wanted him to sit? The way I understand it, at one time chili was considering benching Favre. Favre convinced Chili to let him stay in. Pretty simple stuff.

Do you think this has never happened before between a player and a coach? How often do you think this same scanario plays out in a MLB doug-out? Pitchers are always lobbying to stay in games.

I'm pretty sure that this is exactly what Jack Morris did in game 7 of the '91 series. I'm pretty sure no one wanted to bench or fine him.

Your right I dont know what was said, I am just going off of what the media is telling me, and by that alone I am using that for my judgement. Childress and Favre now what happened, and only them, if the media is reporting correctly, and Favres interview backs their stories, I feel a punishment should be given out.

To be honest, I really dont care if he gets punished or not, but if he doesnt, I think Childress should be gone after this season, because he will have lost respect from the players, and he wont be able to control the team. That isnt a bad thing either! Well, unless he wins the SB!

It's been my understanding that Chilly ASKED or HINTED to Favre that he may want him to sit down. No reports anywhere say Chilly officially wanted him out and Favre refused.

Favre got what he wanted out of this whole mess...to call his own game without the hassle of dealing with an over-bearing control freak of a coach.

Whether that's right or wrong...I don't know. I do know that it was wrong on Favres behalf to make this whole thing public. This sort of thing happens all the time...on every team...and should be handled in house.

Then I won't rest until Jack Morris is equally punished. I think he should send $10 to each and every Twins fan who had to sit there and watch him defy his manager and heroicly win game 7 of the world series in 10 innings. It was such a disgusting atrocity I have to now go and upchuck my supper.

That's kind of how I understood it too. Basically Chilly said, "you're getting hit a lot, we're going with Tjack" and Favre said, "No way, I'm staying in, were up 7-6."

Chilly praised him for wanting to stay in after taking hits, and also said the move to Tjack wasn't performance based.

Whether or not it's the truth? It's all media hype after that. Only Chilly and Favre know what has been said behind closed doors.

I think Chilly just needs to let him do his thing while he's here, Favre is probably a better playcaller anyways. The next couple games will tell the truth.

But what if Chili's reasons to pull Favre were beyond protecting him? What if he seen Favre just wasnt making anything happen, and just wanted to see if Jackson could mix it up a little different to get something going? But Favre wouldnt come out, and was the cause of the team loosing, you never know, we could have won if Jackson was allowed to come in and run around a little. But we will never know, because Favre was to pig headed to be a team player and listen to his head coach. Again, not saying he was right, but he is the boss!

At first I just chuckled after seeing it break down in public after the game. Then after reading about how this is the third game he refused to come out of this year, makes me think about how he is all about Brett, just like he was in GB. Which is why I hated him all of these years.

Now we are getting to the heart of the matter. The whole problem that some have with Brett Favre is that they hate him just because he played for the Packers. If he would have been drafted by the Vikings and played in 2 superbowls winning one, you would all be saying he is the greatest QB that ever lived.

My non love afair with Favre has nothing to do with the Packers. The packers are my second favorite team.

I understand Favres desire to play, and not want to come out of the game, but he needs to do as his coach tells him, whether he thinks it is the correct decision or not!

As for it being a suggestion to come out of the game, the video of them argueing, and Favres interview afterwards, and the reporters comments of Chili flipping out after the game, suggests it may have been a little more then a suggestion.

This is the way I look at it, Chili is the boss of the team, he can not let Favre push him around. If my boss told me to go home because I wasnt doing my job correctly, and I didnt, I am sure I would be having some extra time on my hands!

I dont care if this was Favre, or Peterson, if he isnt being a team player, he should be punished!
