I have seen 3 Ice fishing shows on TV lately and watched one new video, where the guys all had Blue lower auger units? All the units in the stores are Black and all were on Strike Master augers. I know they can't be to old because the last one I seen had a new Solo head on it? What do you think is up with that? Do you think they are some how putting the blue hand auger lower unit's on them? Huuum. confused

The shop in maple lake has 224 auger units (no power head) on clearance right now for $125.00 for either the 8 or 10 inch model. just remember because of the design replacement blades will cost over $50.00 for the exchange blades or over $80.00 for new and also I have heard that if the pitch of the blades get messed up the auger will not cut properly.

the 224 is no longer being manufactured but they are still selling the bit. ans like someone already said the blades are really expensive to replace. the 8" blades are about 50 and the 4" blades are 30.

when there sharp LOOKOUT it drills so freakin fast. I have a blades that are 3 years old and wish they were sharper. I remember when I first got the auger that it was tough to keep your feet planted it drilled so nice. when it was sharp I was beating model 30's 3 holes to one both new blades.

Because I did not like the synthetic auger on my Strikelite they traded me a steel auger that I think, without looking, is a blue Mora. How do I tell if this is a 224 and did I get the short end of the stick? I didn't like the freezing problem on the synthetic flighting but expensive blades could also be a pain.
