Help a guy out (X-mas gifts for her)

Recommended Posts

Don't tell anyone this, but I am weak at picking out the right X-mas gifts for the gal grin Been together essentially a little over a year.

Now if I went in to this cold, I would end up buying her a fishing rod and a chicago bears jersey (She is from Chicago so I can't hold that against her) Why? Because we like to fish and watch football, but c'mon even I know there is room for improvement there.

She likes books, but I don't want to get her a book, plus she is particular on the style and authors. She likes Movies but again I think that is a weak out...

I plan on getting her the Michelle Obama perfume thing, thank god I was with her when she smelled and raved about it. Check done... what else?

Don't get her that, it probably smells like Medicine, or Cad! crylaugh Try J-lo I heard that's suppose to be good stuff? Or the Jam-a-gram on the right of the screen! smile

I am pretty certain she wouldn't like to receive the same things I like to, so I won't suggest those. Power and hand tools for the house usually make it on my list. smile

Does she collect anything? Figurines, lures, antiques, sports related items? That would be something unique to her, which is always an affirmation that you were paying attention at some point.

I too am running out of ideas, she has a new portable fish house, new heater for that house, the roof rake I got her last year is still in good condition, ohhh can't forget the Vex. I gave her I have that tuned to just the way i like it. hummmmm I wonder if she needs that new 70 LBS thrust trolling moter she has had her eye on.

Good Luck

personally, i feel like jewelry might as well have a card attached saying "i couldn't think of anything warm and personal and special so i bought you this shiny stuff instead"

if she likes books, get her one! she like to cook? cookbooks are always good... or a gift card to borders or something, along with a couple other things you mentioned. I think you're on the right track

If you dont want to spend much money, find out her size and go buy 2-3 sweaters. I did that for less than $100 a few years ago. She wears them all the time. Lots of times sweaters are small medium large, dont screw that up, lol. Jewelry is too expensive. I am on that road and it might end with her overjoyed but it also puts me in Povertyville. Its a lonely little town, Povertyville is.

I didn't see where you indicated a price range, so I will keep my suggestions to gifts under $100.

Swarovski (sp?) makes some very nice moderately priced jewelry.

Gift cert's to a spa are always a good idea.

Just about any kind of stuff from Bath and Body or other bath store.

Perfumes can be tougher, if you do go that route stick to something that has similar tones to what she is wearing now.

A Mary Kay gal will happily help you pick out a few things from their selection. Again stick to things that are similar to what she uses now. Ask for a discount, they have a pretty good mark up.

I wouldn't suggest it as your primarly gift, but there are tons of pink fishing rods/reels and other pink fishing accessories.

As suggested by the other guys, if you buy clothes make sure it is the right size. When in doubt, go with the smaller size. Much easier to have to return a too-small item than to hear "you think I'm THAT big???" on Christmas day grin

Finally, if you do recruit the assistance of another woman to help you choose gifts, DO NOT TELL THAT TO HER.

Good luck,

Steve

P.S. You get bonus points if you wrap the gifts yourself. Even if they look hideous. Seriously. smile

When in doubt, go with the smaller size.

You have obviously not been stung with the opposite effect yet then... "Is THAT what you want me to look like?"

You can never win. grin

I like the spa idea. "You should just take the whole day to your self and go and be pampered at the spa.......now where did i leave my tip ups??

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
