Boat Delivery

It probably won't be cheap. Figure a couple grand maybe, just based on what freight costs are for manufacturers and assuming they have contracts with haulers that lower the price. That's a guess though.

What you might try to do is see if you can work with a boat dealer to help you arrange things. Might save some $ even if you have to kick back a little to the dealer for the assistance.

I think that sometimes guys put out adds in clist who are already in route from one place to another. I have never done it, but I don't think it's too bad... I wanna say that it was like $500 to get my boat towed by someone else from Missouri last spring, but I ended up doing myself anyways... but it's an option...

Last year I got a few price quotes to get my boat shipped from Pennsylvania to MN and it was anywhere from 500-1500 depending on who, what, and how it was shipped. Some are big shipping companies and some are small private owners who look for something to tow. I also know that some of the companies will tow the boat and some will put it on a flat bed. I got quotes from the Uship HSOforum. Seems to be the best way to find reliable shipping for a boat.

Cecil,

I've driven that drive before and thats a solid 2 days of driving - about 20 hours and thats one way. You're probably going to spend 700 dollars in gas alone and 1 night in a motel.

I would say if you can get it here for less than 1,000 bucks it probably makes sense. Did you choose the Ranger you were looking at?

I went to VA and back 2 years ago for my current boat. Met the guy on the Potomac river. I left Friday at 9am and was back home Sunday night. Cost me about $500 for fuel and one night at a cheap hotel. Gas keeps getting more expensive as you head east. Ohio was the highest. I would stay on the tollways once you have the boat hooked up. The mountains out there are the real deal. The tollways are a lot flatter and the curves aren't as bad as the ones on the free interstates. Pennsylvania and Ohio will flat out test your tow vehicle! Bring a rod or two and go for a "test" ride.

Cecil I think that is the right route. I took 270 to 70 to the turnpike when I left Wash. DC. The turnpike is otherwise known as 70 76 and 80 at different sections. It is the green route on mapquest. It has quite a few tunnels cut through the mountains vs. going straight over them like I-68. After going eastbound on I-68 on my way to VA I wanted no part of towing a bass boat on that highway! Especially with a threat of ice and snow. I paid the tolls on my way back home and believe it was worth every penny in fuel economy.
