Lesson learned

Recommended Posts

'Bout 3:00 this afternoon I finnished up my work outside and was scrolling thru the now locked baiting thread. I was gonna post a longwinded reply, but it was a beautiful afternoon, so I put on the orange and walked about a quarter mile back in the timber to one of my favorite stands.

4:15 this behemoth of a buck comes walking out of the swamp. I'm facing north and the buck is headed due south about 50 yds to the west of me. He's walking thru pretty thick brush and I get him in my scope a couple of times then he disappears behind a mall scrum of balsam. I have my scope on an opening on the opposite side where I'm hoping he steps out. The brute literally walks out the other side directly into my crosshairs and comes to a dead stop. He's hanging in my shed now.

Lesson learned.

PEATMOSS, if you have pics already, make sure you check out the guidelines on pics, and e-mail me a single pic at the addy in my sig and I'll be happy to post it for you in the pics thread on this board. A lesson learned that well deserves reward! And congrats again! smilesmile

Nicely done, I would be happy you beat that big buck at his own game and didn't need a pile of goodies to draw him in. I'm going out for my last rifle hunt tonight, I have 20 acres of corn standing and 20 more of beans and I'm still waiting to see a deer during legal shooting hours, drove the field road about 8:00 last night to get my T-Cam and of course they were out there then. This section of land has 3 hunters in it, we don't pressure the bedding ground at all and they are still nocturnal as can be.
