There is walkable ice in the cattail swamps early in the morning. That is the first sign for me that we will be ice fishing soon. I would say down in the cities we will be ice'n by Dec. 11-12. Guys are usually fishing small ponds in northern MN by the ice fishing show.

November 30th is the way it looks to me, some long range forecasts show highs in the low 30's and lows in the low to mid teen's just before and after Thanksgiving. Better hold up, or I might fall apart.

Depressing, last year over Thanksgiving weekend we had portables on Chisago Lakes area lakes. Warm temps+sun has put a kabosh on any hopes of that this year IMO (unless you have a Wilcraft vehicle of course).

Well the way the weathers been Ill say we should be able to walk out sometime in february.lol But it looks like its gunna cool off in the ten day forcast.Should be able to walk out by the dec.12.Hopefully sooner!!

Been up on Lake of the woods for the last handful of years the second weekend in December. I am predicting Dec 8th since I plan on heading up the 11th.
