croixflats
Yes, Bret is doing a good job this year and it has been fun to watch. But should he get the full credit for this and given the bill as savior. Could it be the schedule that has a lot to do with it. After all how many teams have we played were actualy considered good and a challenge, discounting the hype of other teams ofcourse. 2 is the anwser and we lost to one of them.Or, could it be the offensive line is doing an outstading job protecting Favre from making poor decisions and preventing preasure on contstant pace. We all know if he is in that position things can go down hill fast for him. Or could it be the defense stepping up there play in the red Zone. No, I am not trying to take away from what he has given but the reality is he is getting good protection and the defense is not letting the score run up on them. The test will be when the vikes are down by 2 scores late in the second half gainst a good team but the chances of that happening wont be till the playoffs.I should say that while Favre's play is really not a huge factor to the wins but I will say his presance is a huge factor and with out Favre the Vikes would not be where they are today without him. zamboni
You must not have watched the 49'ers or Ravens games. I remember late drives, we were losing and Favre working a little magic with the cannon he has as an arm. fact of the matter is he has been one of the best QBs in the NFL this season, and the Vikings are now a complete team, he is a HUGE piece of the puzzle right now. eyehunter
I guess all I have to say about your original post and all the other possiblities that you explained is that all of that stuff that you explained...the offensive line, the defense, having the best running back in the league, special teams being leaps and bounds over what they were last year...all of that is what makes up a TEAM, and the only thing that this team was missing was a QB with the experience and expertise that he has in managing a game. Guess what I'm trying to say is that it's not all him, he was just the missing piece to making a great team.
FISHINGURU
its plain and simple....he's a quarterback that knows how to play some football...he's single handedly won us a few games...our other qb's have stunk pretty much throughout vikings history too...i can easily say favre is the best vikings qb i've ever seen. JBMasterAngler
The QB has been getting the credit for good teams since football was invented! That's the way it is! The only team I can think of in recent history where the QB didn't get the credit was the super bowl ravens. But yes, as already said, because of favre the vikings are a complete team now. And also because of favre, we get to watch the home games on tv
fishersofmen
I agree he has won us a few games. This club would be .500 right now with T-Jack. Worth every penny.
kyleharty
I'm more excited about this team than I have been in a while and Favre's a good part of it. IMHO, he's been doing a great job. The rest of the team seems to be coming together behind him and I get the feeling the team has alot more faith in themselves than they have the past few years. Percy Harvin has talked about how much he's learned from Favre and I think we can give him some credit for the emergence of Sidney Rice recently, he's been incredible the last couple games. I don't know, I'll always watch the Vikes but I have a little higher hopes than most years and an experienced quality quarterback is the difference. Let's hope I'm not eating my words by the end of the season.

KTapper
I wouldn't say we only played 2 hard teams. Packers? I think they would qualify as a good team. We also moved the ball well against the stealers and should have won that give if not for the costly late drive turnovers. We are by far the No.2 team in the NFC. MuleShack
I would have to add that if Tjack or Rosenbomb were playing against the packers or niners or the Ravens that those games would probably be losses. Granted that is just an opinion, but I would have to give the final stats to Farve. After all getting the ball to the key players is the most important part. Other teams have star players too, but if their QB cant get the ball to them...end of story.
zepman
I think he's made all the difference in the world. The offensive line playing good and protecting Favre? Maybe, but I would argue the opposite...Vikes have been protecting him like Fort Knox by using all hands on deck to "max-protect" him. Running backs, fullbacks, extra tight-ends etc. and sending fewer receivers out on routes. I think his quick decision making and his experience is masking some of the problems on our O-Line. Almost all good, experienced quarterbacks are very difficult to sack...they just plain get rid of the ball before they take a loss. Our run blocking leaves alot to be desired right now too. pegleg
At least the Vikes will be in the playoffs... Packers and their fans will be sitting home again for the 2nd year in a row. The Packers were picked by many sports rags to win the division and won't even make the playoffs... Ouch!

IFallsRon
The Vikings are winning because they're not making mistakes. We've seen what can happen (loss to Pittsburgh) when you have a couple turnovers yet they were still in that game. Favre gives the team the opportunity to move the ball and better mix the play calling.Of course, it helps that the defense is making some stops.
