Gord Pyzer's Fast attach speed clips shown on Ice Fishing Guide tv

I have seen the past two episodes of in fishermans ice fishing guide tv show and both episodes Gord Pyzer was fishing with spoons, one episode for perch one for walleye. He had these things he refered to as speed clips or fast attach. They replaced the split ring on the spoon so the hook hangs down about a half inch or so away from the spoon, also he could quickly take the hook off so he could place a minnow head in the center of the treble so if a fish hit the spoon and missed then the head would stay on. It looked to be black wire construction.

Does anybody know what these are and were I could get them? I searched online all over and couldn't find any.

nope this was black and instead of pinching it to release it it looked like he more or less un threaded the treble from the device, Ive never seen one before and he didn't drop any company names or show a close up, all he said on the first episode was it was like a speed clip, the second one he said it was called a fast attach, spent a good few hours online searching for them with no luck

What your talking about I believe are only available at Rollie and Helens musky shop. The concept is a good one. Last year I fished all my panfish spoons with something similar I made with a quick clip and a short piece of heavy braid. It got the treble and bait away from the spoons just a tad more. Not as much as a hali type chain but some...

I saw those clip in this years InFisherman Ice Guide.

My creation cant be used like they were with minnow heads though. I fished them with plastics or 3 spikes...

bearbait87, Google 'No Knot Fas-snap'. IMO the 1st result is what you're looking for. I've bought them from both Gander and Cabelas. They work pretty well, though if you get too wild jigging, the jig will get in a position that it can detach itself and you'll come up short. Otherwise, they are a quick change! Phred52

yup, pretty good snap.. But, for myself, I still use just a regular cross lock with a barrel swivel a little ways up the line..

This allows me to put a small hook above the barrel swivel and add a drop shotted minnow or what have you with the spoon!!

Thanks Jim, thats exactly what I was looking for, I was just so intrigued how he was able to put the minnow head in the center of the treble, put it back on the spoon and it stays there if a fish hits it and misses, you get those second chances at those fish, plus the extra distance away from the spoon ads a special swing and wobble to that minnow head. looks like a great product.

The beauty of these is that there is no snap to clasp shut. I ordered some of these for this winter as well, #0 & 1 is what I went with and they look perfect.

The Musky Shop is the only place I found them as well.

Really looking forward to being able to just switch out my trebles this winter when I go up to Canada(barbless) so that I don't have to be pinching barbs all the time.

I was looking for those, after I saw them on In Fishermans Ice Guide this year. I couldn't find them and was watching another one of the Ice Guides tonight and saw them used again. So, I googled them and found the link back to this forum. Thanks to your links to Rollie and Helen's, I ordered the size 0 and size 1 a minute ago. I'm looking forward to using them.

Here is the link again:

Another time saver and a handy deal I would also recommend is the Treble 23, or what Gamakatsu calls the “Magic Eye” treble hook. They are easy to swap out when needed, far less frustrating then conventional trebles on split rings.

I don't know about improving my fishing, but I've been using fas-snaps above and below the lure for a couple years now. Easy to switch lures. Easy to switch out or sharpen hooks. I don't take the time to run the middle of the treble through the minnow head though. That just keeps you from switching bait as often as you should.

I got some last spring and really thought it was a cool idea to put the head on the shank of the treble. Great when you're ripping rattle baits without losing the bait. I've found that when put on a lipless crankbait, because of the extra length, you catch the rear treble more often. Also, it's a pretty small clip to attach a minnow headed treble to. Speshly for us older eyed guys. I took them off and rip a little gentler. I find that it's not a bad idea to rebait more often anyway.

    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
    • I went ahead and watched some of the MLF coverage.  Wheeler didn’t make the cut but the bigger story was the Poche/Avera fallout.   Kinda funny listening to both sides of the story and putting together the scenario, reading between the lines.
