I still regret selling my Vex FL8 to help offset the price of a new LX5. It would still be nice to have as a backup or for my wife or others to use at times. But I was not in the situation that you seem to be in, a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do.

Try to hang onto your important and costly items if possible. No one can really steer you in the right direction, however, it's really your own decision at the end of the day.

Best of luck to you.

All the fishing equipment doesn't matter if you dont have a way to get it to the lake, or get to work. Sell what you need, and hopefully you have a friend or two that will let you go along with them sometime. If you are ever in my area, I would let you tag along with me. There are many others that have open seats here as well.

Thinking back to when I first started ice fishing I had some jigs, a 20 dollar pole/reel combo, a hand auger, and an 88 prelude. Along with some DNR lake survey maps I was still able to catch fish.

The point is it doesn't take a whole lot to still enjoy a couple hours on the ice. If it means selling it all so that you can keep the income coming in than it is worth it. The basics are cheap, it's all the other toys that cost a lot!

At one point in my life my wife told me to tailor my 4 hobbies (hunting, fishing, music, photography) down to one. We could not afford all 4 hobbies with 5 kids and one job. That was 15 years ago. Now i am back to a point were i have a Bass boat (new), bass fishing gear (and a lot of it), Hunt with all the waterfowl stuff, 2 ice houses and all the gear. It took a while, but once i got on my feet and cleaned house things will start to come back to you when you are ready. Sell the stuff now, get back on your feet, and start back slowly when things get better. As others said on this sight, you should find enough friends on this sight to give you a hand when you want to get on the ice.

Good luck.

Good advice above! Do what you have to to get by right now. My bro and I talekd about this type situation, and while we live to fish and hunt, all the stuff would be for sale if it needed to be. You can always get new stuff, and the good thing is it will probably be better stuff once you are back on your feet smile

Good luck, times are tough, but we will all get through.

I sold my boat (little 14' aluminum) and trailor 2 years ago, worst decision I have ever had to make but I was in the same boat. Needed to pay rent and buy a different vehicle. Glad I did it but I still miss the boat. I will tell you that I will probablt get a better boat than I had sometime this Winter / Spring so I am pretty happy about that.

Stuff happens but you gotta eat...

3 years ago I bought my first StrikLite at the end of the season for $399 on clearance. Ran it one year, then lost my job. Sold it to the pawnshop. My dad liked mine so much he bought one, so I figured I didn't need my own, but I am the kind of person that hates borrowing stuff, so I bought another one last year. That one cost me $529.99. This one is mine for life, no matter how desperate I get. I see they went up another $20 this year. Crazy

I would say if you have a lot to sell and get big bucks go ahead, but if it's not going to get you most of the way out of the fix your in you'll be in same predicament soon again.

Iv'e been there myself and all I did was prolong the inevitable. If you must sell try to at least keep your shelter and a few rods and move to a hand auger if you have to but no sense in being miserable all the time. A guy needs some way to let off a little steam now and again.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
