i'd have to go with sunnies and/or rock bass!

Rock bass hit hard but they fight like little girls.

You can always tell when you got a rock bass on the line because it will hit hard and get you excited thinking something good is on the end of the line but as soon as you think that they go limp and quit fighting. At that second you know you have a rock bass.

it all depends what you use for tackle. they will fight very well if you are using a UL set up.

and a pound rockbass fight harder than a 1lb largemouth, smallmouth, or any panfish

Gonna disagree on Rockies...we catch hundreds of Rock Bass every yr on Cass, many in the pounder class, and I have never had one come to the boat and then make a run. We joke that the first thing out of their mouths when hooked is "ok, reel me in".

before i moved here i lived in pennsylvania and went to college in erie where I fished for steelhead for 4 years and continued after that. I probably caught around 1000 steelhead and they get my vote hands down!

I've caught a truck load of rockbass in my life time...most of them on light tackle fishing for sunnies or crappies.

I've caught them in a number of different places, small rivers, big rivers, big lakes, small lakes and in all instances, except a very few, they don't fight worth squat! A good hit, a little initial tugging, up on their sides and in they come.

Big smallies on light tackle are okay, but sometimes even they are kind of lazy.....don't get me wrong, they fight, but so do carp. I've caught my share of 18-20 inch fish and the smaller ones fight way better, say up to 17 inches.

I guess it depends on the tackle you are using? A pike or a muskie fights pretty good, especially on the lighter tackle.

Fish that seem to fight really hard for their size, to me anyways, are those little green sunfish and warmouths, sunfish hybreds that are shaped like a bass. They are always so small though. If they were a pound or two, they would be like fighting a peacock bass!
