Playoff Rotation

When the twins win on tuesday, who will they put in against the yankees? Traditionally they've had a 4 man rotation in the playoffs, correct?

So I'm thinking Blackburn in game 1, Pavano in game 2, and Baker in game 3. Would Duensing be our #4 guy, or will we keep him in the bullpen?

we know hes a good pitcher, we are just counting on Detroits offense to continue its current form

And its outfielders to keep missing fly balls. Whether it is losing them in the ceiling (again) or just misplayin them (again)

I think they need to suck it up and not make such a big deal on how many days rest they are pitching on. good pitchers that want to win can go out and do it on 3 days rest. I just wish that we did not get NY first round every time that we make the playoffs. Historically it does'nt go so well.

I'd rather play them in a 5 game series than a 7 game series. I normally don't like our chances against them, but we'll be facing sabathia, who we have experience against. Plus I'm counting on the A-rod october slump, and hoping texeira has the same ordeal. Pavano will be looking to stick it to his old team too! My prediction...Twins win a thrilling extra inning classic in game 5.

Another thing they will need to decide after winning the play-in game is what will be the 25 man roster.

Some are a lock, but do you keep 3 catchers??

Who stays in the bullpen?

Crede and Justin will be on the DL, so it will come down to Harris, Bucher, Tolbert, or Casilla.

Ummmmmmm....why are some of you guys talking about playoffs with the Yankees? We have 1 game left that decides their faith. In baseball, we all know playing a single game can go either way. Furthermore, I really don't see the Twins being a huge favorite against the Tigers in this next game. About the only thing we have going for us is homefield advantage, but besides that these are two very evenly matched teams (obviously with their records being the same). Also, this next game will be played a lot different. Pitchers who are normally starting pitchers will be ready to go in the bullpen if needed. This will be a tough close game.

Report: Cabrera had .26 BAC, scuffled with wife

Updated: October 5, 2009, 10:38 AM EDT 8 comments

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (AP) - Records show police responded to a "family trouble" call at the home of Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera.

One game to go Cabrera's Tigers take on the Twins Tuesday in a one-game playoff to make the postseason. Check out some of the best one-game playoffs HERE.

A review of Birmingham Police Department records by The Detroit News indicates officers responded about 6 a.m. Saturday to Cabrera's suburban Detroit home.

The complainant was described as "Rosanna Cabrera." Cabrera's wife is Rosangel Cabrera.

Cabrera was taken to the police station, where he registered a .26 blood-alcohol content according to a report in the Detroit Free-Press.

"He was out late, came home and his spouse didn't appreciate that, I guess and it got into an argument," Birmingham Police Chief Richard Patterson told the paper.

The report says both Cabrera and his wife had facial injuries and Cabrera's gold necklace was broken, but both refused to tell the police what happened.

Patterson said Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski picked Cabrera up at the station Saturday morning.

Cabrera showed up at Comerica Park for Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox with scratches on his face. Cabrera initially told FOXSports.com baseball writer Jon Paul Morosi that a dog was to blame for the cuts; he has since declined comment three times.

A neighbor reported she saw officers put a man in one of three police cars in front of Cabrera's home. Records did not immediately indicate whether anyone was charged.

Chief Richard Patterson is expected to make a statement Monday.

Cabrera told reporters after Friday's loss to the White Sox that he planned to go home, relax and prepare for Saturday's game. But one source told FOXSports.com that Cabrera was seen in downtown Birmingham -- near his home in suburban Oakland County -- later that night.

The report provides context to a terrible weekend at the plate for Cabrera. He went 0-for-11 as the Tigers lost two of three games to the Chicago White Sox. If they had won one more game, they could have clinched the American League Central titile.

Instead, they are scheduled to play the Minnesota Twins in a one-game playoff on Tuesday. It's not clear if Cabrera will be subject to any disciplinary action.

Not a chance. Twins will be lucky to win one. Im being realistic

But of either the Twins or Tigers I would give the twins the edge in having even a chance against the yanks. The tigers are playing pathetic baseball right now and the twins are on a very good roll. Momentum is a big part of playoff baseball. Just look at recent past champs.

To quote Jim Leyland - Momentum is no more than tomorrow's starting pitcher. We are a mess, and have not done well for the past couple weeks. But, we only need to win one game. We can do that.

In 2006, nobody gave the Tigers a chance against the Evil Empire. Good pitching beat beat the Yankees in four. We were hoping to wrap this thing up Saturday, and save Verlander and Porcello for playoff games one and two. Something about "best laid plans" comes to mind.

We've been watching the Cabrerra story for a couple days. Looks like he was drinking with some Chicago players. He was 0-11 in the Chicago series. I don't expect that story to end for some time.

I have heard there are some great downtown bars, anybody want to help the visiting Tigers find a nice place to spill a few. wink

They should go to Chicago and drink. I heard they have the richest neighborhoods, the best nightlife and finest resaurants in the world

I think we'll be losing in the 8th inning of this game and may end up choking... Negative Nelly yes. The pressure is now on us and off of Detroit they are expected to lose!

Go Twins!

I told my dad that it seemed like one of those games that we'll lose.

PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS?!!!? (Think Jim Mora)

Funny how this forum has come full circle. We go from sticking a fork in the team to filling out the playoff rotation! One game at a time fellas. Remember that fat lady will be at the game tomorrow. Let's hope she's not singing our song.

The boys have been playing very good the last several weeks but that don't guarantee anything for one game tomorrow. On top of that, during this little end of the season run I think Detroit is the only team we've played with a winning record so while they've been playing well, remember we haven't been pounding on the yankees, angels, red sox, etc., and there's not a ton of reasons to be overconfident. And it's not like we've been beating up on detroit. (Take away the one lost fly ball to the rookie lf for the kitties and things could be much different than they turned out.) These two teams match up very evenly.

I do hope they can win and take their best shot at the yankees. It would be interesting to see if they would continue to play loose and with confidence and get clutch hitting and pitching against the yanks instead of wetting their pants like they usually do upon entering yankee stadium.
