METRODOME MEMORIES

Recommended Posts

My favorite Metrodome memory was game 163 last year, remember, when they didn't play here and the Sox issued a beat down to the Twinks in the Windy City and won the division....that's a great memory! LOL

Just kidding....don't go all balistic on me! LOL

Windy Windy Windy, Your reaching here big shooter, but I do appreciate your teams effort tonight and hope it continues, because when it is all said and done it is the total number of wins and no matter what happens, will have a better record than you.

Scenerio # 2 is taking shape nicely by the way.

One World Series in 90 years is definitely something to hang your hat on! At least you've got one up on the Cubs!!!

FYI, Gardenhire has been a part of as many Twins WS as Ozzie has for the Sox. Gardy was 3rd base coach in '91!

Man, he has been around that long with all his wisdom and he has not sealed the deal in 18 years! Wow, thanks for bringing that to my attention, now back to gazing into my shiny ring from 05!

My hands are full- I have TWO to polish.

Favorite "At the game" memory was watching the Twins come back on the Yankees and beating Rivera in the 9th.

Favorite all-time memory, The late night full house that showed up just to welcome the Twins back to the Metrodome in '87. Bert still gets a little misty eyed when he brings that one up.

All that needs to be said to that question is, "And we'll see you tomorrow night!"

Aaron

Have to agree with you AWH.

Hey windy maybe you should start a fishing Illinois HSOforum so you don't have to hijack threads on here.

My family and I were there.....we had 1st row seats behind the 1st base dugout...Watching the Twins come in from right field was a blast. They were like awstruck little kids.

Some of my favorite memories have been when Puckett was playing. Of course game 6 is right up there, but it's hard not to appreciate a player like Kirby who truely left everything he had out on the field. Not to mention the big smile he always seemed to carry with him even through some very poor Twin seasons. It really disappointed me to find out some of the off-field troubles he had, but I can't ever forget what kind of player and person he was on the field.

Memories from games I attended...

#1a - Last day of 2006 Seeing the Twins win and waiting another hour for the Royals to win..... And the celebration was on!!!!!

Seeing Mauer clinch batting title, and solidifying Morneau as MVP!!!!!

#1b - Kirby Puckett retirement day. Only time the stadium was packed in the mid to late 90's! Something I'll never forget! We were only a few rows away when he stood up and walked out onto the field from the seat where he hit the Game 6 homerun!!!!!!!!

#2 - Multiple starts I saw by Santana and Liriano (when he was on fire!)

#3 - Kent Hrbek Jersey # Retired day in the late 90's. We got there early but didn't get a replica jersey cause we went through the wrong gates. Dissapointed then but a memorable day!

#4 - Opening Day 2009 - I had never been to an opening day... We lost but still memorable!

#5 - Yesterday, Twins beating the Royals 5-4 and being tied for first by days end with 1 to go!

I wont be there, but hopefully TODAY will be memorable and can match days like winning the division series in 02 over the A's, The World Series (I remember a little from 91 and only I was 2 years old in 1987!) The White Sox series in 2008 at home! Dome Dogs, Buying little bats and batting gloves, and cards, etc. as a kid, The Noise!, Kirrrrrrrrby Puckett. Leeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww Ford, Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!, MIENTKIEWICZ on the t-shirts in the outfield! Walk off hits and homeruns. Hunter catches, etc. It really goes on and on but this post is long enough!

The farewell to the dome post game show was awesome! It was cool to hear the stories and see the clips of the world series years. And to hear knoblauch get booed once more smile

The game that stands out the most for me (while in attendance of course) was an afternoon game against the rays in 2004. Up until then I had never seen a grand slam live, and of all people Nick Punto blasted one out...and then like 2 innings later someone from tampa hit a grand slam. Twins ended up winning, and it was quite an exciting game.
