nate larson
There always seem to be a fair amount of GWT around until about now...it's only the blue wings that bug out early.
Lunker
Another slow day out on the water. Hunted this morning until about 10. Saw a total of about a dozen birds all morning. We managed one mallard and one ringer. Also had a flock of 8 or so mallards work our spread over and over but would not commit. Besides the ringer, all the birds we saw were mallards. Heard very little shooting from the other 4-5 groups I saw go out, besides one group who shot quite a bit.
joekleinjr
Ididn't bother going go out today, ain't been enough duck around to bother with.
tylor
Hunted this morning on an area where seeing a bunch of ducks has never been an issue but getting them to come in isn't always the easiest, and we saw very few ducks. There was still a fair number of geese around but ducks were almost non-existant and that has never been the case before even on warm blue-bird days. joekleinjr
we are still waiting for the northern ducks to come down, been too warm around here, this week is supposed to be cooler, and rainy maybe next weekend i'll try

BrdHunter01
Cooler? Highs in the 40s and 50s just isn't going to cut it. Hope they come before the seasons over but its looking very bleak right now...
Dentedk
We spent this evening just south of Hastings.....we saw one duck and one lone goose off in the distance.....and just about every sea gull in the state! It was a great evening even though we didn't shoot our guns.
BoxMN
Hundreds if not thousands of hoodies on Lake Christina right now. Only saw three cans in the rafts, so only woodpeckers out there now We saw more deer than ducks in the area... good thing we were deer hunting
BrdHunter01
Tweed, Where are you getting this forecast? All I have found is a high of 4 and a low of -1 for Winnipeg on Sun. O and thats celsius... For one I don't think they can tell that far out and for two were going to need about 4-5 days in a row of sub-zero weather up their along with strong N winds to move anything. Cheetah
Slow morning on Saturday, no shots and nothing would come near my decoys. I slept in on Sunday.
strait-meat
Hunted Pelican yesterday PM saw about 12 mallards in a flock and 30 blue bills rafted up in the middle and 6 hooded mergs. No shoots and nothing looked at our decoys. Need cooler weather to get another push of birds down before season closes.

Lunker
Tried an afternoon-evening hunt today, did not even see a duck. Saw some geese after shooting hours closed but that was it. Terrible.

Sifty
I've given up on the ducks in my area and am just going to goose hunt the rest of the season. It does'nt look like there will be the big push we had all hoped for.Sifty
luckycrank
I don't get it!... It is not that horrible. plenty of divers to shoot at. seen about 25 flocks today Trust your instinct.. it has been warm for quite some time now! My instinct tells me we will continue to get new birds on each cold night. Seen approximatly 200-300 fresh mallards this morning had I been set up for them I know I could have filled out I had three greenhead decoys off on there own in all goldeneye spread and still got a couple good flocks to put there feet down ! with very little calling, after the first greeting call it was all over ! I have to imagine what would have happened with a few more decoys and if I would have placed them diiferently and shot much better than I did today I could be better but I am not complaining. strait-meat
I am glad you are seeing ducks--I am going to go out somewhere (not sure yet) to west central MN and try to get some ducks from Wed-Fri. then again next week towards the middle/end part again. Wished my duck hunting would have been better this year but that hunting I guess.
Ray Esboldt
Crank,You fail to mention what part of the state you are in. That's really what it boils down to this time of year (any year). You need to put yourself in the right place to kill ducks. 20 miles to the west or 20 miles to the east and there is nothing. Where I hunt, there is nothing and it has been poor all year. That's just the way it worked out this year. But, I will not complain. If I had the time, I could go find them.
luckycrank
southern central portion! when scouting ,dont expect those mallards to be sitting next to the road these particular mallards are spending there time a raft with seagulls in the 1,000 possibly 10,000 same is true with the goldeneyes. really had to look for them through the scope to find them beacause they are not all in one spot they have been in small flocks through out them
leech~~
Went out last weekend and checked two lakes just north of the cities hardly a black dot on the lake, where just the weekend before there were big rafts of Coot and a few flocks of Ducks flying around. It's done. Goose is going to be the game now.

Sifty
If we could get some colder weather we have a small creek that holds some Mallards later in the year after the corn is out.Problem is I have to wait for both this year.Sifty
Moonie
Me and a buddy went North of Grand Rapids this weekend. Shot and saw lots of bills, goldeneye, buffs! Yesterday was a bluebird day and we still managed a great diver shoot. Just have to put in your time and put yourself where the ducks are. A lot of great sets in the blocks and plenty of ducks still to come down.
