Week after week we tell you how good it has been on Devils Lake, but it has really been super! The big fish have been just as active as the 14 to 18 inch fish. Bottom bouncers and spinners or slow death hooks have been the number one method. Tipping these rigs with crawlers, either whole or half, gulp crawlers or minnow grubs in white, and leeches have all been working great. Lead core has been producing some big fish this week along mid lake structure, such as sunken roads and weed edges. Number7 shad raps and number 9 Flicker shads in blue chrome, fire tiger, purple decent, and gold has been the best. 10 to 18 feet has been a good starting point for your lead core trolling. With the next 7 days being stable and with highs in the 80's the fishing should remain just as stable so hurry up and book a trip with Mitchell's Guide Service, before school starts and the fall harvest get going. Until next week have fun and be safe.

Hello, again everyone! We sure have had a absolutely fantastic summer with limits upon limits of walleyes being brought in. Now, with cooler mornings and some strong north winds occurring the fall bite has started. We are still catching our fish on bottom bouncers and crawlers or gulp at 1.2 to 1.6 mph. Pulling plugs with lead core line has definitely picked up this past week. Salmo #5 in firetiger and any chrome pattern has been great. Speeds when using leadcore with plugs generally should be in the 2.3 to 2.8 mph. Many of the sunken roads in Pelican or the Golden Highway have been producing well. Some of the many bridges have been producing some nice limits of walleyes and a few jumbo perch as well. Methods here have been a jig and minnow or leech, remember to use a heavy enough jig so you always make good contact with the bottom. A Lindy rig and a minnow or leech worked very slow on the bottom has been a favorite with the shore fisherman. If you are looking to go on a fully guided fishing trip with one of the many guides at Mitchell's Guide Service just contact us at one of the numbers below.

I'm looking at booking an early ice fishing trip on Devils for December 4-6. Does anyone know if there are any bays or smaller lakes just off of Devils that are starting to freeze up? Also are there any guides and/or resorts that will be started up by then if there is good 4 wheeler ice? Thanks in advance for the info.

The main lake has froze. The smaller lakes are froze up with reports of up to 4 inches already. Use extreme caution when venturing out! Stick to bays and smaller lakes. Irvine has been producing limits of walleyes already! Remember this is early Ice so be careful!!!!

This is directly from Woodland Resorts Facebook page posted yesterday afternoon

"5 inches of ice on Creel Bay. Folks are catching walleye and perch. Our crew will out on Monday to double check measurements to get a better idea of ice conditions in the bay. Cold weather later next week should really help. Very little snow on the ice."

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
