nate larson
I just picked up my crappie mount yesterday. I am very happy with how it turned out. Tom's taxidermy in Clarks Grove did a great job. Here are a couple of pics:

Bluegill1510
Hey did you by chance get to weigh yours? I caught one that was around 15 1/4 too while walleye fishing, and mine weighed 1 lb 13 ounces. Just curious, nice fish though man you don't see to many over 15" crappies anymore even on Red. I am mounting mine too but its going with the school of 5 sunfish I'm getting done. nate larson
Thanks for the compliments everyone! Hey Bluegill, the taxidermist weighed it after he thawed it out and it was over 2...I think he said 2 pounds 4 ounces but I can't remember for sure. It had big shoulders. Bluegill1510
Dang it must of had some shoulders nate! Cuz mine filled the whole bottom of a 5 gallon bucket for girth wise, and I used a digetal meat scale too to weigh it. So thats pretty accurate. anyways nice fish man! nate larson
Yeah who knows...it is very possible that it actually weighed less than that. You really need to weigh the fish when it is still alive to get an accurate weight. But as a fisherman I don't mind going with what the taxidermist told me. Jim Uran
Nice fish Nate!!! That baby must look real good on the wall. I've got a 15" in the freezer and am looking for another this summer so I can get a double mount.
chillincarp870
i got a 16 incher a couple winters ago and it went 2.5 lbs. so i think that should be close to accurate. Great fish.

bronzeback
it certainly is. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I've caught, and seen plenty of 15-16" crappies. Biggest I've seen is 17 and there are bigger out there.
ozzie
well then take me to your fishing hole cause around these parts as most 16 is a monster and anything bigger is unheard of
bronzeback
16 is still a monster, it's just not that rare to find them on Secret Lake.
