Well, everytime I rip on Cuddles he goes on a 3 game tear of at least 3 homers and at least 1 with a guy on wink and as promised I would get after Justin......really Justin another 0 for September.........Gardy did comment yesterday on how big that hit for Justin was.

since the person on this thread declared "game, set, and match" on the topic, he's got 10 hits in his last 50 at bats. only 2 extra base hits, 5 rbi's and 9 strikeouts. A couple late inning at bats n that same time frame would have been ideal situations for a sacrifice bunt but apparently he can't bunt or else gardy thinks he's too good of a hitter to bunt so we ended up with strikeouts and not moving the runner. I didn't compare but am guessing punto may have similar or better numbers in that same time span.

I sometimes wonder if cuddy comes to this site for inspiration because it seems like he has a good game about the time the criticism gets heaviest on this site so here's hoping he's reading this thread today and manages to start putting bat on ball a little more often when there's runners on base that need to be moved. Oh, and cuddy if you are reading this, the "game, set, and match" proclamation didn't mean it was end of the season. You still have a few games left to play.

I'll probably get hammered by some but here's a thought. Someone reminded me earlier this week that he has a very good shot at getting named AL comeback player of the year. This would likely put his trade value at an all time high and possiblye even higher than his actual value to the team. Knowing that the team has a few spots in the lineup that need to be shored up for next year, wouldn't that be the opportune time to try to put together a trade? Twins have very few players who are of much value in a trade situation and we all know how unlikely they are to have a free agent signing of someone who can make a difference. I'd rather it be cuddy than it be span, kubel, nathan, mauer, or morneau. Those six players are about it for players who could potentially get us someone other than a no name prospect in a trade. (I'm purposely not counting any of our other pitchers because I don't see any of them getting moved.) I don't realistically think this will happen but to me it's something that could possibly help the team next year.

good post greebs, since he is so VALUABLE I would love to see them bring in a GOOD pitcher. Like I posted a long time back, I would liked to have traded him for Zach Duke.

All the cruddy backers will still brag up his homers and that he cant get any RBI's because he is behind Morny and Mauer....but the fact of the matter is he is batting .231 WITH RUNNERS ON. ANd he has 68 RBI's and he has almost 500 at bats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep they might as well trade Cuddy and Morneau. They both are in a bad slump. Trade them 2 for some good pitching. They are not helping the team at all, and both are ruining our chances to win the division. Get rid of Casilla and Punto as there batting averages are horrible. Ah what the heck trade everyone except Mauer and build from there.

I wouldn't be totally opposed to trading him especially now with his stock way up being he's 8th in league in Extra base hits and a bona-fide Major League Outfielder offensively and defensively!

It better be a darn good player though!

defensively?

Cuddy gets the latest jumps on flies and line drives of any outfielder Ive ever seen, then has to make up ground in the last second to make the catch.

that's quite the turnabout from your earlier thread. Say we could get a starting ss or 2b that is a big upgrade from what we have currently along with an outfielder for him, I think that's something that could benefit the team. Or how about a starting pitcher that throws with some authority and could be their #1 guy that they lack? I'm not saying I'd want him to be moved if all we get is a punto type player.

if you are responding to my thread sarcastically, you are missing the point. Do you think for a minute this team is going to be bidding on any big name free agents this summer for upgrades? I didn't think so either.

Do you have any suggestions on obtaining upgrades to the team? My point is we've got about 6 players that have some potential trade value and of those six, he's the one who offers in my opinion the one we'd miss the least and potentially garner more in trade than what he's really worth.

2 points!

One: Cuddy has been buy far our most CLUTCH late inning hitter going back 2-3 months. PERIOD! I could give a Rats arse what he does in the first inning with Kubel on first and 2 outs. He is and has been as clutch as anybody we have when we need him most..K?

Two: Sled I disagree with your take on him judging the ball he has really improved and frankly I can't remember his last miscue in the Field!

OK 3 points... Greebs you make some good points as well!

Fish58 leave the forum NOW...I'm suspending your Baseball forum privileges for incompetence grin

Greebs yes I was, and it was directed at the negative nellies out there. Trade this guy, trade this person. This guy sucks today. Who says the next guy is going to be better.(look at Crede as an example) You work with what you have. You want good chemistry and team players playing for you.

Fishin 58 I am impressed that you can tell the future. I am sure that is exactly what would have happened, since Cuddy is such a terrible player in your opinion. I am sure you can do better. I assume you were bummed when he crushed that ball on a line, burning left and centerfielder. unbelievable. I am suprised that you were watching.

Why would you be surprised, I was not the one with my fork in hand a month ago????

I agree with Sled many times over about griddlecakes slowness in the field and his late break on the ball. Kind of Jim Edmonds esque' but without all the great catches that Jim had. Cuddles just take his normal 1 hop ....I guess so he can show off his great arm......I would rather have my outfielder catch the ball???

Again, Gardys favorite "Cuddles" and his 500 ab's and only 70 RBI's and from such a great power hitter??

One of the many reasons I would hate giving up Cuddy is his defense we have pretty much the best defensive outfield in Baseball right now and thats important. You won't find any credible source ripping Cuddys defense that's for sure!

Cuddy has actually dished out as much Crow defensively this year as he has offensively and that's great to see as true Twins Fan.. smile
