Summerized the gas auger and everything is packed in storage ...Except a few panfish rods, had auger, & vex - Just in case (can't seem to let go).

You didn't have your Clam airing out in your driveway on Sat. did you?

Nope not mine ... but I was cruising the lake with the neighbor doing one last trash pickup run on the lake (North Center).

After today - all the ice gear is now officially stored for the winter frown , bring on the open water smile Time to start getting the boats prep'ed and few prelaunch repairs done.

I was on White Bear Lake today from noon to 3pm.

We had AMPHIBIOUS capability and we NEEDED it.

I was really wondering before I read the whole post.

I had a chance to drive by there today and things are lookin good for open water, my guess, one week

Well, I got my last day in on the ice yesterday. Fished a little crappie hole and spent 1/2 a day sight fishing perch on Leech. Got a few fish, wasn't as fast and furious as I thought it would be this late in the game, but it sure was great to get out. Spent today packing away the rod bags, switching out my ice tackle, charging up the gel batteries for storage, winterizing the auger, and cleaning and drying out the fish house. Now I just need a strong buddy to help lift the fish house into the rafters.

I got a little contemplative as I put things away...what did I learn this year, what were the highlights, what were the best trips, etc. Sad isn't the right word, but I do get a little glum putting away the ice gear. I can fish open water already where I live, but there's something about ice fishing that really does it for me. Sitting on the ice last night enjoying the stillness had this peaceful effect on me. You can't do that in the summer with the hum of mosquitoes and the croak of the bullfrog...I do love that peacefulness as well, but the absolute dead calm of winter and the quiet winter scene helps slow down the grind of hectic personal life.

Open water is the fishing focus now. Sturgeon in 2 weeks, maybe a nice trout trip, hot crappie pre-spawn action, fishing opener, and then warm summer days and evenings for whatever tickles my fancy at the time.

Was out Saturday afternoon on a lake in the Crosslake area, fishing crappies. Friend and I caught some beautiful crappies. Ice was still to the gear box on the auger and looked good. We did walk out.

Fished this weekend and will do so again next weekend. Still LOTS of ice up here, if you can, you should get your behinds up here for one last shot. You could bring the boat and try for a hog on the river too!

I was going to hit Vermilion one last time this afternoon but the ice around our shore went from being completely solid to shore on Sunday to several feet of open water today. Worked on the duck boat instead to get that off the summer time project list. Time to think spring now.

I was on the ice today west of Park Rapids. We fished from 6 am till noon. I think it was my last time for the season frown. I would try again tomorrow but I can't bring myself to get up at 3 am to make the drive. The ice wasn't the best I've been on, but not the worst either.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
