B1; be vigilent on the online used boat sites; maybe

thanks, i will. the good thing is i don't need to rush it. my boat does just fine for what i do. two large casting decks about a 4 1/2 foot well. just the rod storage leaves something to be desired. i'll be doing something but they'll be in the way of casting/playing fish if i don't make swivel mounts. we'll see. but like ACE said, bigger is just better. and i agree.

If you don't mind a little bigger boat and want an AMAZING boat for the money as far as ride and set up - look at a 95-96 Stratos XL...this hull is probably the very best value hull out there overall and with a 200HP outboard it runs VERY well...just a thought as if you shop hard you can find one with a newer EFI motor for under 10k....great boat for the money!!!

That way you have a great boat and also money left for tackle and travel...

P.S. - depending on how of water you fish a "true" walleye boat can be beneficial over a bass boat - as mentioned above the skeeter and Triton are both very nice walleye boats in "glass" but it all depends on your budget.

Well, I wasn't quite ready to buy then a 1996 Ranger 690vs popped up on muskie first! Mint condition, 175 on the back, electronics, loaded for $11.5k.

And I was the 2nd or 3rd person to contact him, it's sold. DOH! Would've been perfect! Onward goes the battle, but it's at least wising me up to getting finances in order to pounce on something when it shows up.

Well, I'm the odd man out here. I fish out of a 2007 Lund 1425 Classic SS. At 14'9", I guess I have one of the smaller boats out there in terms of fishing primarily for pike and muskies. However, even at this size, the boat has alot of bulk and stability to it and rides great with the 40 HP Merc. I have taken it out on Cass with 2-3 ft waves and while I did get sprayed, it did seem to handle alright. I fish by myself most of the time so crowding and space is not really not an issue. I do fish with one other person at times and it does seem to work alright, although you must be aware of whats behind you when casting with long rods. About the only downfall I would say is rod storage- nothing longer than 6'6" will fit in the rod locker. I simply strap my long rods (smallest at 8') to the top of the livewell, which I very rarely ever use. Personally, I wouldn't want a larger boat at this juncture, unless I lived out on a large lake and only pulled the boat out once a year. One of the greatest advantages I like about this boat is it's manuverability. With the 55lb thrust trolling motor on the bow, I can scoot along quite nicely and turn on a dime. Another advantage is the overall size of the rig. Not only is it light enough to easily pull with a large car, it fits quite nicely in the garage along with the two cars (Dodge Charger and Jeep Cherokee).

Even though i have a bigger boat now, I did OK in the 16 ft Lund I used before. I think a lot of guys see all the big rangers and such and think they have to go big. Not that theres anything wrong with that if you can afford it. I wanted a boat I could pull the kids on for tubing and get around on a little quicker, and found a reasonably priced glass boat I love. But I still have the Lund:) Oh, and I have a 7 ft. inshore spinning rod thats one of my main outfits:) Nice to use a different motion occasionally and give the hand a break, or it's handy when my son or someone else comes along that can't throw a baitcaster very well. It could have a little more backbone, but i stick to smaller lures with it and it does fine. i have another heavier spinner i picked up last year for salt fishing that I plan on useing this year and it gives up very little to my muskie outfits in terms of action.
