shizzy
its about this time of year I dont like my hand auger so much..... the thicker the ice gets the fewer holes I drill.
hovermn
Not there yet! Just spent my last night on the ice last night, but that doesn't mean the house won't be out anymore. There's still oodles of inches of ice out there, and I plan on using every bit until it's unsafe. Guess I have a different take on it, seeing as I don't have a boat, and I'm not a fan of shore fishing.

I have a hand auger and a boat, so I guess my thoughts are different this time of year. yesterday I was drilling holes and the ice was to the wing nut on my auger.... that second and third hole arent as important to drill this time of the year.... hovermn
I have a pretty sweet winter set up with all the toys, and a power auger... I may have 3 summer rods and maybe 1/4 the tackle that I have for winter. I think we can understand where each one is coming from 28" is a lot to hand auger through! Back in college, we used to chisel through it, and it SUCKED! For your sake, I hope open water comes early, but I reserve the right to pray for a late ice season! Burnham
yea i have all the bells and whistles for ice fishing, other than a stinking power auger(but im only 17 so i dont get all sore lol) and not much for open water, but i just got a gps so i guess i can use that for open water too! i want the ice to stay put for just a little bit longer though

The Hammer
I've been out in the boat twice now and that isn't even close to enough. Can't wait for the Rainy River to open.

lindy rig
I definitely enjoy ice fishing, just bought a new Otter Lodge this year. But I have to say I am more than ready for spring. I even pulled my boat from the backyard last night and now have it in the garage. Figure I can monkey around and get it ready over the next few weeks to help take my mind off of it. 4 months of winter is enough... Come on Spring! Steve Foss
After the mid-season doldrums, laker fishing has just started to pick back up, and these three weeks until the end of the season are going to be golden. Then I'll be chanting loudly in the chorus: April thaw! April thaw!
maros91
Not me. I can dress for the winter but not for summer. Hot, muggy, sticky, mosquitos bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing in you ear, slapping at the ones on your back and legs. Man I hate mosquitos. Plus I don't own a boat so bring on the cold and snow. Raider4ever
If I lose another three feet of snow bank at the end of the driveway, I will have enough room to pull the boat out of storage and park where I can: see it, go through it and pull out the dryer sheets, "practice" hooking it up to the Jeep, "maybe" bring it out for rides (no chance of launching for at least another month)This winter has gone on too long!!
