I recently rediscovered a 5 1/2 lb rock I got many years ago. It appears to be a half of a larger rock that was cut in two. The cut side is polished. It was given to me by a relative who called it an agate. How can I find out what i have? I'm pretty ignorant as far as rock ID goes.

Thanks

Hey Dark, while icefishing a couple of weeks ago I noticed that a bulldozer was doing some excavating about 150 feet from where I found my 1.8 lb agate. I think a little walk is in store for this guy once the spring thaw begins. wink

I've got a interesting little artifact that I would like to post a pic of but, gave up on this techie procedure. Anyone care to give me an addy I could forward the pic to to have it posted here. Kind of intersting story on how I came to possess it.
