island guy
I recently rediscovered a 5 1/2 lb rock I got many years ago. It appears to be a half of a larger rock that was cut in two. The cut side is polished. It was given to me by a relative who called it an agate. How can I find out what i have? I'm pretty ignorant as far as rock ID goes. Thanks
DARK30
There are lots of agates from around the world but our lakers are unique to this part of the country. Anything over a pound or two is a rare find but they do turn up.

Duffman
Hey Dark, while icefishing a couple of weeks ago I noticed that a bulldozer was doing some excavating about 150 feet from where I found my 1.8 lb agate. I think a little walk is in store for this guy once the spring thaw begins.
