Blackduck lake it's not uncommon to see gills pushing 2lbs.
I make a few trips up to the duck every year and have never gotten one bigger than 12in on there. There are some real nice fish in that lake but not in big numbers. June and july are the good months for the bigger gills. Have had good luck in front of the resort on the hill ( white birch.) In the winter they are harder to come by usaly you will get a couple gills while fishing for the perch but not in the size and numbers that the open water season will produce. I personaly do not keep any gills bigger than 8in as theese fish are needed to help keep a lake healthy.

Any blue gill over the 10.5 mark is a fun catch and a great fish.

DTRO that is a nice mount..

I have had two 14 inch crappies in my years.. I had no idea they were mount worthy... I have just seen'em mounted so much bigger then that !

Now I will probably never get one even close....

I've got a 11.5" and a 12.25 headed to the taxi as soon as the checkbook allows. My dad ad I have a nice little honey hole that you can pull limits of 9.5 and 10's out. Wouldnt be surprised if there are a couple 13+ in there. I'm sort of spoiled on big gills after we found that lake but anything 10+ would make a nice mount.
