once you get a flasher you'll never fish without one again i drove 40 mins away and realized i forgot mine at home so i drove back home then back out to the lake AGAIN! would have been a waste of time if i tried to fish with out it

If I had to go back and do it all over again I'd gladly drop a couple grand on a good flasher. It will pay for itself.

(obviously I know they are not that expensive, but they are worth that much after you use and understand how it works)

I did the exact same thing a couple of years back. 2 hour drive one way to Red Lake and turned around just before I got to Blackduck because I forgot my Vexilar! I was just over half way there.

No. People on this site talk about them all the time, and almost everyone I see fishing uses them, but I think they're just a fad. Sorta like bellbottom jeans and mullets. It'll pass.

Other things that are over-rated when it comes to ice fishing include rods, reels, fish houses, auger, boots, and warm clothing. I stay away from most of that stuff, people selling that are usually just crazy capitalists trying to pry your hard earned money from your wallet.

I hated the thought of ice fishing after the futility of my early college years. I went to drink. Now I love the sport because I hava shot to ice something other than empty beer cans and wiz.
