Put my first open water bass in the boat. Nice chunk smallie from pool 2. Hit on a Northstar Hair jig with zoom speed craw.

That is a chunky Smallie Tony. Good ole hair jig is hard to beat. Those fish came from South. The open seasons are nice to keep a guy preoccupied April-May.

Sure was

4.56lbs. I ended up with 2 that size. Thought it was closer to 5 right away, but the scale said otherwise.

Got this fat girl tossing jigs and plastics for crappie. Caught her in 8-9 feet of water and she had a full stomach and raw tail.

Snapped a quick pic and let her go. Got boarded by the DNR about 10 minutes later.

Hit Mille Lacs for the first time today. Cold and windy. Got rained, sleeted, and hailed on. Very weird weather today. I did end up hooking into 3 smallies and 7 walleyes. Probably missed 4-5 smallies though. Here is the pig of the day...what a fatty!!! 4lbs 13oz
