FshBloodRiverMud
TkaaiI see you are using the spinner blade harness in front of your bait. How's your success been using that? I've got a few of them in various sizes and have been using them trolling for muskies. What's your favorite bait to pull behind them?
Hester
A couple biggens from last week.Oops, that didn't work
TKaai
I was throwing a Strike King Burner spinnerbait. I've never used a harness setup, but it's an interesting idea, idk if it'd work or not, maybe in front of a swim jig. Caught on a vintage fiberglass rod with a pistol grip. river rat316
If you are fishing in Duluth I doubt it is shad they are eating, the only place with shad that I know of in Minnesota is the Mississippi river from pool 2 and down.
TKaai
Well, what would they be? There are lots of small baitfish where I'm fishing. I am catching the smallies In almost the exact same spots every time I go and whenever the water is calm I can see baitfish hitting the surface. A few smallies have spit up these little fish when I get them in the kayak.

MN BassFisher
6lbs 10oz?? dam, that is one hell of a fish Jalberg! Out of curiosity finesse or moving bait?
jalberg
Out of curiosity finesse or moving bait? Not finesse and not a moving bait like a spinnerbait. I was pitching a jig to the deepest clumps of milfoil I could see and it hit it on the fall, so I guess it was a moving bait. Moving vertically. Presco
I didn't catch this fish, but in the spirit of sharing fun pics, thought I'd throw this on here. Was up north with a few buddies yesterday and it was pretty slow. We'd caught a few mid 4's but the action was slow and we were sitting on a spot that we hadn't caught anything and we were getting ready to move. Then, it happened. Tick in the line, hook set and I witnessed the largest smallmouth I've ever see brought to the boat. She wasn't fat, just thick. Like she'd swallowed an NFL football. I'm 6'3" and have pretty big hands and I couldn't get my hands around her midsection. Anyway, buddy named her Cheryl and she's still swimming today.
