Deitz Dittrich
dang 74 those are some skinning fish to be that long and only that much weight. I can honestly say, I dont think I have ever seen a 22" under 5lbs.. Nice fish though!!!!
Craigums
I was gonna say the same thing, Did they look sickly or does your scale weigh on the slim side?
TurnUpTheFishing
Or the measurement was off. That fish doesn't look sickly.
74mph
Well it could be the scale. I weighed the 31 inch walleye I caught a couple of weeks ago and it only weighed 8lbs. Ill see if I cant verify the scale against a known weight. I also always feel like the weights you guys are quoting on here seem really high but that might be because of my scale throwing me off. This was a super healthy fish, real good color too. Dude... either your scale is off, your tape is off, or something is off... a 31" walleye at 8lbs and 22" bass under 5lbs!?!?! That just isn't right... unless the fish are paper thin and sickly and about to die of starvation.
Deitz Dittrich
I agree.. something is not right.. either the way you measure or your scale. a 31" walleye is a true trophy and this time of the year should be over 10lbs. Maybe even over 11? Just like a 21" bass should be all of 5lbs and probably 6 this time of the year. I dont want to be rude, I am just asking questions to help all.. do you use a tape measure or a bump board? A tape measure can tack on inches pretty quick.. Fish with the mouth open or closed can add inches pretty quick too..
74mph
Okay! This is actually pretty cool. If I can show that my scale is off then likley all of my "bigger fish" this summer were even bigger than I thought. Im going to bring the sale into work tomorrow or friday and check it against some known weights. On the longer fish I did have to use a tape, but I make sure and get it taught with the fish laying flat. My bump board only goes out to 18.5ish inches. I always take the measurements with the mouth closed and tail pinched for consistency.Ill check the scale tomorrow or friday and let you know what I find out. Thanks guys.DK

Presco
kt, nice fish. Looked like a fun day, were they shallow or deep? That looks like Douglas County? Some good smallie waters up there, its been a few years since I fished out there, but it looks familiar.

Prairiefire
Had an awesome day on the water today. I would guess in the 100 fish range. The water temp was up to 66 by the afternoon and every fish in the lake must have moved shallow. The next couple of weeks should be very good.
