Eckie
Wife got me a new GPS for my birthday -- when I opened it, I discovered that it only came with a lanyard and 12V adapter, but no case to put it in....Figured for as many on this site have this unit, there have to be a bazillion good ideas of what you guys use to protect/store this in. Any solutions? Thanks much!
0 leech~~
I got a cheap, small padded camra case that had a small pocket in the front where you can keep the 12v cord as well. Worked good!
0 Will
ditto, and mine has a small zippered pocket to keep my lake chips as well.
0 hanronson
I bought a Lowepro SlipLock 10 Pouch at National Camera and Exchange for my Expedition. It has a strap, belt loop and small pouch for cord/spare bats. It fits perfect inside, almost like it was made for the H2O/Expedition. 0 Crow Hunter
One other thing I would recommend is to buy a packet of screen protectors- this is a sticky transparent film made to go on the screen of ipods, cell phones, digital cameras, etc. They sell them wherever these electronics are sold. Cut a piece the size of the screen of your gps, and stick it on.Replace it once in a while when the film gets scratched up- that way the screen itself will never get scratched up. The screens are pretty soft and get scratched easily if you don't do this.CH
0 Northlander
Yup the screen protectors go on all my electronics. Well worth the $.I also got a padded camera pouch that works great for my H2Oc and it was only like $9 at Best Buy. Wally World has some that will work as well. 0 leech~~
mac, ksw. Isn't it kind of spendy just getting a R/C bag empty before you can use it! To bad Ripple doesn't come in a bag!
0 Myrt
Is it ok to put those screen protectors on colored lowrancelocator/gps units? (520c...etc)
0 Glockwinger
Ok, what if you already have a scratched screen? Any way to reduce them before putting on a screen protector?
0 DTro
Ok, what if you already have a scratched screen? Any way to reduce them before putting on a screen protector? You can try some plastic polish.I've heard toothpaste will work.
0 Jim Almquist
Ok, what if you already have a scratched screen? Any way to reduce them before putting on a screen protector? Another trick that I have used on my Lowrance LMS350A was to use Brasso and a soft cloth. It really cleaned up the scratches. Then I sold it on the Bay but it looked nice and I got good money for it. 0 Eckie
Any more ideas of what you guys use for cases for your GPS? I like a couple of the ideas, but looking for more opinions. While I like CR as much as the next guy, I'm looking for a little more protection than just a purple bag.
0 aczr2k
Gander has some gps cases not sure what the brand was but they are green, have a pocket for the lakemaster chip cases and plenty of room for the unit and the cord. I bought mine a couple of years ago, $15 I think.
0 TonkaBass
$11 for the case I have, I think it's from gps outfitters. I like it because it had two zipper compartments. One I use for the 12v power cord and the other for extra batteries.
0 Eckie
Tonka...I'm on that HSOforum now...I like that case. The H20C will fit in the Ultimate GPS case? Hard to tell from the picture in the HSOforum. Thanks!!
0 Hookey
I have the case from Gander it is also sold at Cabelas. The case has side pouches for batteries and zippered pockets for chips. The top flap is velcro and allowseasy access for the GPS. Best part is it is cheap. OBTW: As with any electronic device the GPS also has a built in hole seeking chip. Attach a carbiner to the case and a second to the GPS and yourself. Should the hole seeking chip perform as designed you will have a manual override in place. 0 Jeremy airjer W
I bought a soft sided case made just for the h20 i think from LEI. I found it at thorne brothers. It has a clear front so you can still see the screen while its in the case.
0 Eckie
Thanks for all the input, fellas...your help (and wisdom) is greatly appreciated. My new case is on order. Now I just need to buy a chip for it, but will probably wait for the 09 Lakemaster to come out next month.

0 Eckie
The associate at Cabelas said they'd be out at the end Feb/beginning of March...Gotta think the 08's might be a little cheaper when the 09's are available also...
0 Jeremy airjer W
There is one lake I fish on the 08' that is not on the original I have. I thought about buying the 08' when it came out but as usual I have put it off long enough to wait for the 09' I think it will be worth purchasing at this point.
