Most of my fishing/hunting life I have been able to come up with my own version of things that people are willing to pay hundreds/dollars for. im thinkin small tarp with 3 small bungees. I cant take anymore snow in my sled!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several years ago, I had an old otter that came without a cover. I used a cheap poly tarp, with those inexpensive spring hand clamps. I got everything at Northern, and it worked ok.

Fine snow dust would still get in, but it was minimal. An old matress sheet with the elastic worked very well underneath the tarp, but one it got wet and frozen it made it hard to get back on.

My friend uses a tarp for his. He took a rope and put it through the grommets of the tarp and would pull it tight around the base of the sled. To secure the rope so it wouldn't come undone he clamp the rope with a spring hand clamp. It held well and never came undone at high speeds down the highway with it in the back of his truck.

You can make a nice cover out of a blue tarp. Just size it cut it and add metal grommet holes that you can get at wal mart or other placs in hobby sections. once it is sized use cloth bungees on each corner. Tie a knot on each end of each bungee so that it holds in the metal grommets. Then pull the bungees so they are tight when on the sled before tieing the second end of each bungee. This makes is hug the sled just like the %50 cover.

Last year I bought a fishhouse cover from "Save Big Money at .... fill in the blank" in Brooklyn Park. The brand fishhouse they sell there has a separately sold cover that fits my Clam Yukon just fine. Plus, the fabric is extremely heavy duty.

Zeek,

Call Canvas Craft in Rogers and talk to Matt. Tell him I sent ya. I believe he still has some magnum Otter sled style covers at the Ramsey store that were printed incorrectly. Ask Matt what he needs for one.

This is exactly the forum that I needed... I was thinking about this same exact thing for my shack... I hate getting snow and ice in it while pulling it across the ice with the atv. But I dont really want to spend the $50 bucks for the official cover. I think that I am going to go shopping for a small tarp and either some clamps or tye down straps to at least try out...

Kinda hard to just give in a part with $50 once in awhile but then I turn around and spend $100 on something else that I really dont need... Does anybody else do things like that???

I like to spend the money for the things that match because than I look like the real deal, even if I can't fish that well I will look like I know whats going on. I mean if I spend the money on alllllllllllllllll the other fancy fishing items I might as well get the cover to help keep it all there, and it looks more classy. It's like when you see a sled pulling a porty with a rope and than you see the guy with the fancy hitch, I think the fancy hitch guy has it together lol :)Im just a brand name whore lol
