shedfreak
Hey everyone, prime time is right around the corner... Although with the minimal snowfall we had for a good month plus the beginning of the year didnt help the situation. I bet there was a TON picked up in that stretch. So rumor is I found a nice set? hmmm where did you hear that from? I did pick up an 8 point set the morning of our last snowfall. Im guessing you , talked to the guy, matt, that I ran into in the woods.. Ive been busy with the baby and havent gotten to walk for the periods of time i would like to be walking. Im laid off too, could have been a HUGE year for me, but Ive got to play the mr. mom role this season it looks like. Ive picked up 12 so far. The biggest being 72 inches and change, 5 point side.. g4 is under 2 inches, so it has a 70 inch 4 point frame! My smallest could probably compete among the smallest ever found. I know its under 2 inches long, in fact when I picked it up, I thought it was just a busted tine, but nope, it had a base on it.. Either from a buttin buck, or one of those bucks you see with 3 bases. I shot one early season that had a 2 inch point with a seperate base on it, kinda cool. Not a legal buck, but im countin it as a shed!! Good to see some other people are findin some. One of these days Ill get the time to upload some pics. Most likely it will be end of season, and ill have a 30 picture post! Oh and if matt was the guy who told you about the set, id like to get his # from you, sounded like he knows of a set of sheds id like to take a peek at. fish with teeth
just went and found my first shed ever in the woods behind the house. read this thread made me think about it so off i went. it only took me about 10 min and there it was in a little clearing. thick 5 point with a broken drop tine. then walked around for 2 more hours but nothing else. wish i could show the pic but camera is missing in action right now. hopefully after i find it i can figure out how to post a pic.oh yeah i scared up 8 to 10 deer and 1 was about an 8 point still sporting some head gear. so i know what i will be doing about once a week or so. thanks for turning me onto a new hobby. buckhunter21
Congrats fish! Shed hunting is definitely a fun new hobby to get into. By the middle of next week should be as good a time as any to find sheds with this warm weather there talking you should be able to find the ones that have been laying under the snow for a couple months. Good luck!
jkcmj
I first started looking about 5 years ago and usually get out atleast 6-8 times in the spring. I had my best year 2 years ago when I found 21 antlers with 4 matched sets. My biggest is the 75 inch I found this year. I thought I'd throw in another photo of the big set my friend found since the other photo didn't show up that great.

shedfreak
I found 2 more this weekend, numer 13 and 14. 6th and 7th sheds I have picked up in a 200 yard radius. I was watchin bucks there all winter, glad the scouting paid off. both 4 point sides, biggest one going mid to upper 60's. Again, pics will come at the end of the year, hope the pile gets a bit bigger!
jkcmj
They have been practicing QDM for several years on the property, along with excellent genetics. They own enough property so that bucks are more likely to survive, even though the neighbors do not cooperate all that well with letting the little ones go. They let the deer alone during gun season which allows the deer to bed in his when pressure is hot on the surrounding property. They have been doing archery and muzzle loading mostly. GFNER
Was shocked to see about a 130-140 class buck tonight in Soderville. I don't think I've ever seen a rack this late, anyone else?
shedfreak
I Have seen 4 different bucks the last 3 days ranging from 110-150 with both sides yet. I have seen them as late as mid april here. I found a cool non typical shed yesterday, and another non typ today! as well as 2 others, bumps me up to 18 for the year. I hope the streak continues, my year end post seems to be getting longer and longer.

Musky Buck
Talked to my bus driving uncle, he saw a couple more bucks this week, that really makes for tough shed hunting when the Spring thaw comes before many shed.
certified jumbo
glad to see people are still finding some and interesting to hear of antlers still on heads. thats cool though. i haven't found anymore antlers since feb. 20. i've been stuck on number 18 now for a month. i plan on making april a banner month. i have 2 area's to look that i know deer yarded up in. i just need the snow to melt. i'll also do a end of the year post with my high lights of the 09' antler hunting season. i hope to find a big one yet, 50" is my biggest on the year. i'll keep looking!! Code-Man
Went this weekend covered a lot of ground no sheds. River was too flooded to get to a good chunk but lots of sign.

lungdeflator
I put out a couple cameras last thursday to see what was going on. I have put in close to 20 hours this year so far, all seemed to be in good areas too. Still have nothing to show for it. I am glad that this rain is getting rid of the snow though! Musky Buck
Still some bucks in the area with full headgear, when Spring unleashes an early melt down, it makes shed hunting tough because where they were a week ago they have abandoned with racks on head yet a bunch of them. Needed a couple weeks of gradual thawing, didn't get it this spring. Good Luck guys and they are out there, the matching set I found Saturday still had bloody bases on the white part. Stumbled on a huge shed, but it was old and weathered, missed it the year before unfortunately.
lungdeflator
What does the snow cover look like in your areas? I havent had much time to look into the woods lately but from what I have seen the rain did not do that much for melting snow in the woods in the Bemidji area.
