i think our image is pretty good...there's nothing wrong with giving players a 2nd chance or a clean slate...as long as you don't keep players that keep doing the same dumb mistakes over and over.

i hope we get someone exciting personally...best case would be a boldin or braylon trade for me...if not them then i'd like an explosive player like percy...oline is needed forsure but i think we can still get someone good in a different round or free agency still if we wanted.

2nd and a 5th for boldin and spend the 1st on percy lol woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Our image is a lot better off then the the boat trip years. Have to disagree zep, the under routes we need less of to clear up space. That would further clog up the middle and the linebackers could still stay closer to home. Deeper slants maybe, but percy is still the wrong man for that, he has the Todd "Gator Arms" Pinkston syndrome.

Dream situation, Berrian on the left, Braylon lined up right! Get the safeties honoring these 2 on deeper routes. Instead of sitting in the box.

I know you don't like the pick Fishin58 but if you think any linebacker or safety can sit inside and cover Harvin out of the backfield or slot you are crazy. This is mismatch heaven...now let's hope the coaches can utilize him to help out the whole offense. Loadholt or Beatty would be great in the 2nd!!

Beatty is a finesse pass blocker that translates to the left tackle position. Not much of a run blocker(doesn't have much power). Loadholt translates to the right side which is where we need help.

The Vikes were definitely into improving special teams in this draft...I bet they keep all of their picks on the team and all of the picks except Loadholt play special teams next year.

Loadholt was a nice pick. If Harvin runs the straight and narrow they did well there too.

Nice backup corner, LB, and Safety who all have special teams written all over them.

I like the draft of a receiver in the first round, and I think Harvin will be a good receiver. What I dont understand is, if they were going to use the 1st round pick for a receiver, why not trade your first pick and get Braylon Edwards? He is proven, and wouldnt have cost a ton compared to Boldin. Loadholt should help our line a bit.

thats exactly what i was thinking rick..every guy we drafted are stellar tacklers...not the fastest group of guys but quick people that can shed blocks and make hits.

its the X-factor...the thought of what u might get and groom yourself..you know what your getting with braylon or boldin but you don't know what your getting with percy...this is a gutsy pick by the vikes and i like that we took a chance...it would be sweet to possibly have the next steve smith type wr.

oline would of been the safer more conservative approach but it wouldn't of brewed up much excitement either.

go to the vikes HSOforum and watch the percy press conference and interview video to see what we got and his attitude!

I completely agree Rick. Special teams help and depth added to some key positions. Allen will be a really good nickel back and both the linebacker and safety we took sound like they are tackling machines. Much needed as our special teams sucked last year. Both Harvin and Allen can be used as return guys too.

I like that press conference. He really seems like he wants to play no matter what. Its good to see someone with the attitude he has. He does not care what position he plays. He justs wants to contribute. He sounds pretty sincere about leaving his past behind him. I hope this kid turns out for the better. I think we got a steal this year.

Pac Man II LOL

PRO SPORTS DAILY:

At some point, a player's talent just is not worth where he is picked, no matter how physically gifted he is.

If I did not have Pac Man Jones rated in my top 65 players before the 2005 NFL Draft, you would have called me crazy.

Same goes for former players like Lawrence Phillips, Rae Carruth, Dimitrius Underwood, Mike Williams, Matt Jones, among countless others drafted in the first round.

What am I getting at?

Pro Football Weekly's Nolan Nawrocki has hinted at Percy Harvin's severe character concerns, which make him a very risky prospect.

Harvin's track record goes all the way back to high school where he had multiple incidents.

In 2004 as a junior, he served a one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct during a game. Having played high school sports, I know you have to do something pretty bad to warrant a suspension.

Harvin was reportedly involved in a fight during the end of a basketball game, and it got so big the officials called the game.

As a senior, Harvin was suspended for the remainder of his athletic high school eligibility by the Virginia High School League for numerous incidents during basketball games.

Scout.com reported that in 2004, “Harvin was suspended from school for an altercation with the school's wrestling coach. After horseplay in the cafeteria, Harvin and the coach/teacher had an altercation that Harvin claims was blown out of proportion, but still leads to a two-game suspension.”

Also in 2005, “He was charged with misdemeanor assault for his role in a street fight and was suspended for two games during the football season of his senior year. Charges were eventually dropped.”

Harvin is a bust waiting to happen. Giving a player a few million dollars only makes his behavior worse because he will get more attention. Nawrocki has stated that Harvin has an entourage that follows him around and he rubs people the wrong way.

How bad does your character have to be that your athletic career is over in high school? The answer is pretty terrible.

It looks like Harvin has not learned from his past as he has tested positive for marijuana at the Combine. Neither Harvin nor his agent has appealed this report.

On top of all this are Harvin's severe durability concerns.

I have no idea where I am going to place him on my Top 100 of my Big Board at this point, but definitely not in the top 65.

Do not be shocked at all if Harvin falls out of the first two rounds altogether. He might just fall out of the first three rounds. Who knows, maybe he goes undrafted!

Considering that Roger Goddell is cracking down on character and a player like Harvin would be a head case, teams just might feel like he isn't worth drafting at all.

Think about Pac Man Jones. If you had to do it all over again, would you spend even a seventh-round pick on him?

If not, then maybe you shouldn't spend a draft pick on the next Pac Man Jones: Percy Harvin.

Im just not sold on the character stuff yet about Harvin. The only things we know is what the media presents to us. He had "altercations" in high school. Notice how they never really say what he actually did? I just heard that he is moving his family from Florida up to MN. Maybe getting away from Florida will help with his "Character"? Randy Moss had problems, Steve Smith had problems, Jared Allen had problems, and the list can go on and on. Personally I can't judge someone whom I do not know. If he makes me eat my words so be it. But he is a Minnesota Viking. And right now that's all I need.
